Masters champion Sergio Garcia and reigning Open champion Henrik Stenson lead the field for the BMW International Open, which begins on Thursday in Munich, Germany. Garcia is listed as the top betting choice at odds of +750, while Stenson is the second choice at +850. The top local choice in the betting is Martin Kaymer at odds of +1850. Only one German has been able to win the BMW International Open, and that was Kaymer in 2008.

Odds Analysis
Sergio Garcia +750
Since winning the Masters, Sergio has been busy, playing in six events but he really hasn’t been in contention for the win in any of them. He has played well, finishing in the Top 20 four times but I think he is overvalued at these odds.
Henrik Stenson +850
Stenson is the defending champion of the BMW International Open and he also won in 2006 but he hasn’t played well in over a year and hasn’t been in contention in a long time. I think Stenson is completely overvalued this week.
Bernd Wiesberger +1550
Wiesberger is playing well, having finished in the Top 30 in each of his last six events but he has just one win since 2015 although that was earlier this season in China.
Rafa Cabrera Bello +1550
Why not Cabrera Bello this week at odds of +1550? He has three finishes in the top six on the European Tour this season. He has not won since 2012 so I understand the hesitancy to bet him to win, but he is playing really well and this could be the week for him.
Martin Kaymer +1850
I have no idea why Kaymer is listed at odds of nearly 20-1. He is playing better of late and he has won this event in the past, plus I think the favorites in this event are vulnerable. Kaymer is my top choice to win at odds of +1850.
Tommy Fleetwood +1850
Fleetwood was in the mix last week at the U.S. Open but I don’t see him following up that performance with another big one in Germany.
Marcel Siem +7550
I have a big longshot this week in Siem who is a local favorite. He nearly won this event in 2012 but finished two behind Danny Willett. I think this is a good week to take a big longshot, as the favorites look beatable.

Notes: There have been 24 different winners in the 28 years of this tournament. The last two times the event has been held at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, the tournament was decided by just one shot, as Pablo Larrazabal defeated Henrik Stenson by one shot two years ago, while Ernie Els beat Thomas Bjorn in 2013. Stenson is the only player to win this event on two different courses, as he won at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried in 2006 and Golf Club Gut Larchenhof in 2016.
