Defending champion Marc Warren is the betting favorite at the 2015 Made in Denmark

After a hugely successful debut a year ago, Made in Denmark returns to Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort this week for the tournament’s much-anticipated second edition. More than 80,000 spectators lined the fairways of the Farso venue last year, when The European Tour returned to Denmark for the first time since 2003.

The only thing missing from the tournament are top ranked players! This year’s field is lackluster at best with home bred players Thomas Bjorn +1890, Soren Kjeldsen +1575 and Thorbjorn Olesen +3250 headlining the tournament. Defending champion Marc Warren +1010 is back to defend and is the highest ranked player in the tournament, ranked No. 50 in the world.

Bjorn, Denmark’s most successful player, was part of The European Ryder Cup Team that defeated the United States at Gleneagles last fall. He won his first professional title at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort 20 years ago, at the 1995 Himmerland Open on the European Challenge Tour.

Kjeldsen won earlier this year at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open and last week became the first Dane to pass the 500 appearance mark on The European Tour.

Olesen’s game has been erratic after spending most of the year injured and is still searching to regain the form that he is capable of.

Defending champion Warren produced a superb third round performance in the wind last year, carding a five under par round of 66, before a closing 68 meant he finished two shots clear of Welshman Bradley Dredge. He has been in good form again this summer, finishing tied fourth in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and fourth in the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play Championship.

Also in the field is The 2016 European Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke.

Matthew Fitzpatrick +1785 thrives on tracks where the wind blows and you have to hit it straight. This week should be the recipe for success for the young Englishman to pick up his first win on the European Tour. The wind usually blows at Himmerland and this will benefit Fitzpatrick’s game. He is always near the top in greens in regulation and that will come in handy on the short, tricky layout that the players will face this week in Denmark.

Peter Uihlein +3250 doesn’t know what zip code he is hitting it off the tee and this poses a problem for him week after week. Uihlein has played in Denmark before with little success, in fact, he has never broken par in eight rounds. The American hasn’t had a top 20 finish since April and is why I am fading the former U.S. Amateur champion.

Rikard Karlberg +3500 is an unknown player to most golf fans, but the young Swede has posted two top 10’s in his last three European Tour starts. He closed with a 64 to take T10 at the Scottish Open and carded bookend 65s for a T9 at the European Masters. He also played well in his debut in Denmark a year ago with a T9.
