DP World Tour Championship Matchup Odds and Picks

DP-World-Tour-Championship-H2H-Matchup-Odds---Euro

The Race to Dubai concludes this week with the DP World Tour Championship, as three players battle it out for the title. Tommy Fleetwood leads the rankings, but Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia still have a chance. Fleetwood will win the championship if Rose doesn’t finish in the top five and Garcia doesn’t win. Rose can take the title by winning or finishing second if Fleetwood doesn’t win, while Garcia needs to win and then needs Rose to finish fourth or worse and Fleetwood to finish outside of the top 20. We are coming off a 2-2-2 with the matchup picks at the Nedbank Challenge. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s DP World Tour Championship.

DP World Tour Championship Matchup Picks

Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. The Jumeriah Golf Estates course is long at 7,675 yards so distance off the tee will be a big factor to consider this week. Matthew Fitzpatrick bucked the trend of big hitters winning last year but in the previous five years the winners were Rory McIlroy twice, Henrik Stenson twice and Alvaro Quiros.

Justin Rose -140 vs. Sergio Garcia

I think Rose has a big chance to win this week, as he is in the best form of any golfer in the world with two straight wins. Garcia did win in his last event but he has already admitted that it would take a minor miracle for him to win the Race to Dubai championship. Rose has finished second twice in this event. I will lay the price and take Rose in this matchup.

Jon Rahm +110 vs. Sergio Garcia

Rahm is a big bomber who should do well on this course. He has gone on record saying he loves this course in Dubai and that it suits his game. This play is also one against Garcia who is playing his first tournament with clubs from a new manufacturer. Garcia has never been that great in this event anyway and he admitted it is not one of his favorite courses and now he has to deal with new clubs. I will take Rahm in this matchup.

Thomas Pieters +120 vs. Martin Kaymer

Pieters is 9th on the European Tour in driving distance. Kaymer played well for the first time in a while last week, but I am still not sold he has turned the corner. His fifth place finish last week was his first top ten since February. I will take Pieters at plus money.

Nicolas Colsaerts -122 vs. Kiradech Aphibarnrat

This is our key statistic matchup of the week. Colsaerts ranks 10th on the European Tour in driving distance, while Aphibarnrat is just 121st. I will lay the small price and take Colsaerts in this matchup.
