Golf Odds - BMW Masters Preview

2015-BMW-Masters-Betting-Odds

This week’s BMW Masters is the last chance for players to climb into the top 60 in the Race to Dubai standings to secure a spot for next week’s final tournament. The European Tour needs to change their format. The players that have already qualified aren’t even playing this week leaving the field sparse for talent. And a few years ago, Rory McIlroy had it wrapped up before the final two tournaments. The Tour’s effort to lure players to their big events has failed miserably and something needs to change to add drama to the Race to Dubai, it stinks!

Justin Rose +650, Henrik Stenson +1255, Branden Grace +1800 and Sergio Garcia +2625 headline this week’s BMW Masters. Rose is the betting favorite. Grace is a rising superstar who is in contention on a weekly basis. Stenson is due to have knee surgery in December and I am not sure the status of the knee, but it obviously isn’t right and Garcia showed some promise last week with a strong finish.

Others scheduled to compete include Patrick Reed +1850, Shane Lowry +3000, Martin Kaymer +3500, Louis Oosthuizen +2850 and Danny Willett +2015.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Patrick Reed +1850 continues to play well on Asian soil. Last week the American placed T7 at the WGC-HSBC Champions and that came after a third in Hong Kong and a T10 in Malaysia. Reed is surging in the right direction and with a few breaks he will capture his first European Tour victory. I’m on board with Reed this week and you should be too.

Where has Francesco Molinari +7250 gone? He has certainly disappeared from the leaderboards over the past few months. His game looks flat and the results show, 38-20-54-61-40 in his last five starts. The consistency is there, that is, if you like top 50 finishes. Molinari is one player to stay away from until we see some progress.

Hao Tong Li +5850 is a rising superstar. The 20 year old put on quite a show last week in front of all his fans. His T7 was his best finish to date and that came after a T26 in Turkey. He was paired with Jordan Spieth in the final round last week and that will bode well for the kid moving forward. In the three European Tour events played on his home Chinese soil this year he’s finished second, sixth and T7 so Li deserves everyone’s attention including yours!

Defending champion Marcel Siem has been struggling badly over the past few months but did at least shoot 68-69 in the final two rounds of the Turkish Airlines Open on his last start to post T41. A T41 is not what I am looking for and if that’s the beat the German has to offer, I am passing. If he is on the board, fade him!
