The European Tour continues this week with another stop in South Africa.
The Nedbank Golf Challenge features a limited field with only 28 players scheduled to compete.
Henrik Stenson +725 and Branden Grace +950 are the betting favorites. Other notables scheduled to compete include Charl Schwartzel +1220, Danny Willett +1100, Matthew Fitzpatrick +1550 and my favorite Andy “Smiley” Sullivan +1950.
In the past the winning score has reached 20 under par, so look to see a bunch of birdies and eagles flying this week.
Gary Player Country Club is the host venue and it is one of the longest courses in the world, measuring over 7,800 yards, but the long hitters really don’t have that much of an advantage as you would think they would and local man Louis Oosthuizen added this insight: “You need to hit fairways and not just take driver and bomb it. There are a lot of holes out there where I’ll be hitting five woods, three-woods and three-irons just to get myself in play.”
Last year Danny Willett claimed his second win on the European Tour by capturing the Nedbank Golf Challenge. The 27 year old, whose only previous triumph came at the BMW International Open in 2012, carded a six under par 66 to win by four shots at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City. The win helped Willett get off and running and he would eventually finish second to Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai standings.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Andy Sullivan is one of the most underrated players in the world. He won three times in 2015 and two of those wins came in South Africa, so he will have good vibes heading into this week. He has never played Gary Player Country Club but he is playing in a country where he has thrived in the past.
After winning the WGC-Bridgestone in August, Shane Lowry has lost his game and focus. In his last three starts he has struggled with a T68, T56 and a T48 and that’s not going to cut it if he wants to be an elite player. Until Lowry shows me some sort of form, I am fading him!
American Webb Simpson is making the switch from the long putter to the shorter one and is finding it very difficult. He has one top 25 in his last 12 starts and in his last start he finished T56 in Las Vegas. Until further notice, don’t waste your time or money on Simpson.
