If you thought last week’s team play at the Zurich Classic was different, wait until you see the GolfSixes this weekend on the European Tour. The GolfSixes is just a two-day event, taking place on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7 with 16 teams competing for the title on just six holes. The style of play will be Greensomes, which means that both players hit their tee-shots, and then they choose the best one and it is alternate shot the rest of the hole. It is match play, with one team competing against another. Saturday’s action will have four groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals which will be played on Sunday, as will the semifinals and final. Let’s look at this event, golf odds and golf predictions.

Odds Analysis
England – Chris Wood/Andy Sullivan +450
The obvious favorite is England, as they have Wood and Sullivan. Wood is coming off a tie for fourth at the Volvo China Open. He is 7-4 in his career in match play. Sullivan was 2-0 last year in the Eurasia Cup. Wood and Sullivan will also have the home crowd in their favor.
France – Alexander Levy/Gregory Bourdy +750
Levy is coming off a win last week and I liked his chances last week at the Volvo China Open. I am not so sure this week. Bourdy did tie for third at the Shenzhen two starts ago but I am worried about a letdown for Levy this week. I think France is overvalued at these odds.
Denmark – Thorbjorn Olesen/Lucas Bjerregaard +800
We know that Olesen will probably play well but the wild card is Bjerregaard. He has just one Top 25 finish in nine starts this season. I am looking elsewhere.
Thailand – Thongchai Jaidee/Kiradech Aphibarnrat +800
I think you can make a decent case for the Thailand team. Aphibarnrat won the Paul Lawrie Match Play in 2015 and Jaidee is an experienced player who won’t get rattled.
Belgium – Nicolas Colsaerts/Thomas Detry +900
I like Colsaerts in this format, as his length is going to be a big factor. The question is Detry who tied for 48th in China. Is he good enough to give Belgium a chance to advance?
Italy – Matteo Manassero, Renato Paratore +1400
My longshot is Italy, as Manassero played well at the World Cup of Golf last year with Francesco Molinari. He is teamed with Paratore, who has Top 20 finishes in two of his last three starts.
Course: The Centurion Club near St Albans in England was designed by Simon Gidman and is similar in many respects to a links course. This event has been changed so the course will feature just six feature holes. The course will be a par 24 that measures 2,276 yards. The six holes being used are the 1st: Par 3, 166 yards, 2nd: Par 4, 476 yards; 3rd: Par 5, 516 yards; 4th: Par 4, 436 yards; 5th: Par 3, 136 yards and 6th: Par 5, 546 yards.
TV Coverage: Golf Channel
Notes: This event is going to look more like a stage show than a golf tournament, as players are going to have their own walk up music and there will be a shot clock. Players will have 40 seconds to hit their shots or they get a penalty.
