Hero Indian Open Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. The DLF Golf & Country Club course in New Delhi played really difficult last year, as just seven players finished under par. The course has a number of elevation changes and water is in play on six holes. Accuracy and scrambling are two key statistics to consider this week.
Anirban Lahiri -140 vs. Emiliano Grillo
My top pick to win this week is Lahiri and although Grillo has played well recently on the PGA Tour, I think Lahiri has the edge playing at home. I will lay the price and take Lahiri in this matchup.
Scott Jamieson -120 vs. Pablo Larrazabal
One of my longshot picks to win this week is Jamieson and I expect him to be in the mix on Sunday. Larrazabal is tough to figure out, but more often than not he disappoints. I will take Jamieson in this matchup.
Jeunghun Wang -105 vs. Andrew Johnston
I am surprised that Wang is not a big favorite in this matchup. Beef is fun to watch and he is popular with the fans, but he rarely contends. I think Wang is better suited for this course and I expect him to win this matchup.
Wade Ormsby -115 vs. Stephen Gallacher
Ormsby played in Mexico last week and got off to a really bad start, but he recovered nicely to play well in the final three rounds. He is a regular on the Asian Tour and he won the Panasonic Open in India five years ago. I will take him in this matchup against Gallacher.
Edoardo Molinari -110 vs. Jazz Janewattananond
This course in India demands precision and Molinari is known as a player who really focuses well on difficult courses. I think he could have a chance to contend this week and I like him in his matchup against Janewattananond.
