It is stroke play followed by match play this week at the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth event. There is no real favorite this week, as seven players are all listed at about +2500. Very few big names are playing this week, which is why you will see players like Ryan Fox, Jason Scrivener, Thorbjorn Olesen and Kiradech Aphibarnrat among the top betting choices. We went 3-2 with last week’s matchup picks at the Maybank Championship. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth.

ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. This event in Australia is strokeplay for three rounds and then matchplay on Sunday. The top 24 players make the cut for Sunday with the top eight getting a bye into the second round. The remaining 16 players play matchplay over six holes with the winners joining the other eight players. The tournament continues with six-hole matchplay in the second round, quarterfinals, semifinals and final. The tournament is held at Lake Karrinyup which has hosted four Australian Opens.
Most previous winners of this event have either played well previously in Australia or they played well in last week’s event, regardless of where that event may have been played. In fact, five of the previous 11 winners finished in the top six in the previous week’s event. Good current form definitely is a must when looking to pick winners in this particular tournament.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat -115 vs. Thorbjorn Olesen
I am betting that Olesen doesn’t even finish in the top 24 and make it to Sunday. Olesen is a good match play player but I just don’t see him making it to Sunday for it to matter. Aphibarnrat is in better overall form and I think he makes the cut to Sunday and wins this matchup.
Hideto Tanihara -115 vs. Andrew Johnston
I picked both of these players in the odds preview to contend this week, but I like Tanihara a little more simply because of his match play experience. He played well last week, as he finished in the top five in Malaysia. If both players finish in the top 24 and make it to Sunday then I have to give the edge to Tanihara.
Lucas Herbert -115 vs. Alejandro Canizares
Herbert finished sixth in the Australian Open last year and he is in good form with four top 10 finishes in his last five events. He didn’t play last week because he was in Qualifying School for the PGA Tour China Series and he finished second. Herbert lost to Khongwatmai a year ago and Khongwatmai made the final. I will lay the small price and take Herbert in this matchup.
Wade Ormsby -115 vs. Scott Vincent
Ormsby will like playing at home and he did finish in the Top 10 in the Australian Open. He made the quarterfinals of this event a year ago and in his two previous starts at Lake Karrinyup he tied for 15th and tied for 9th. Vincent missed the cut at this event last year and I don’t know that he makes it this time either. I will take Ormsby in this matchup.
