The European Tour is winding down with only two events left until the start of The Final Series. This week the tour travels to Portugal for the ninth edition of the Portugal Masters.
Major Champion Martin Kaymer +1255 headlines a field that includes Bernd Wiesberger +1225, Tommy Fleetwood +2000 and Chris Wood +1900.
The elite players are taking the week off to gear up for The Final Series and some, like Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose decided to play in the United States which really has to sting the brass of the European Tour.
Oceanico Victoria Golf Club is the host course this week. The Arnold Palmer design measures 7,209 yards and will play to a par 71. The layout is generous off the tee which will give the longer hitters a huge advantage. The course hosted the World Cup in 2005. The scoring will be low and it will be important to get off to a good start.

Bernd Wiesberger +2250 is the horse for the course this week in Portugal. In his last three starts in this event, he has two top 5’s. The course is wide open which will make the Belgians day. In his last start, Wiesberger racked up another strong finish with a fourth place finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Keep your eyes on a young Frenchman named Romain Wattel +4050 this week. He is trending in the right direction with finishes of T10, T33 and T22 last week at the British Masters where he was prominent for much of the week before playing his final 12 holes in 3-over to slip back. Adding to his appeal is a fourth place in last year’s weather-shortened event and a T26 on his debut in 2013. The kid hits it long which will give him a huge advantage.
Not everyone has heard of young Tyrrell Hatton +2950. The Englishman quietly sits No. 32 in the Race to Dubai standings. He churned out another strong performance last week at the British Masters - T13 - and will without a doubt gain inspiration and motivation seeing his buddy, Matthew Fitzpatrick win the tournament. This could be Hatton’s breakthrough week.
Stephen Gallacher +8050 withdrew last week, saying he was tired and lethargic. If the Scot is on the board, bet against him, not only is he sick, he also has lost his game.
