Henrik Stenson is a solid favorite to win this week’s Maybank Championship in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a much weaker field this week on the European Tour and Stenson is the only player listed at single-digit odds. He is listed at +800, while Alexander Levy is the second choice in the betting at +1400. We went 2-3 with last week’s matchup picks at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, but one of those wins was on a nice underdog. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s Maybank Championship.

Maybank Championship Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. This is the second year for this tournament at Saujana Golf and Country Club. It is a par 72 that plays to a length of 7,186 yards. Scoring figures to be excellent again this year, as temperatures will be warm all weekend. The top three stats to consider this week are driving accuracy, greens in regulation and putting.
Henrik Stenson -190 vs. Alexander Levy
I am all-in on Stenson this week, as I think he is the clear choice to win this tournament. I know Levy is playing well, but I think Stenson is simply at a different level. I will lay the price and take Stenson in this matchup.
Henrik Stenson -210 vs. Bernd Wiesberger
I know the price is high, but I like Stenson in this matchup against Wiesberger. Stenson is the only top 10 player in the field and he has two straight top 10 finishes in his last two events. Stenson was 13th in GIR last season on the European Tour and I expect a strong showing from him this week.
Dylan Frittelli -110 vs Kiradech Aphibarnrat
I said in the odds preview that I will be following Frittelli closely this season. He will be going for his third European Tour win in the last two years. I will take him at a pick in this matchup against Aphibarnrat.
David Lipsky -145 vs. Shubhankar Sharma
Lipsky nearly won this event a year ago and I expect him to contend this year. He played well last week at the Dubai Desert Classic and I think he is undervalued in this matchup against Sharma.
Fabrizio Zanotti -125 vs. Shaun Norris
The defending champion is not getting much respect this week in the betting odds. He could move near a top 50 spot in the World Rankings with a win this week. He didn’t play well last week but last year he had missed three straight cuts and then won in Malaysia. I will lay the small price and take Zanotti in this matchup.
