Henrik Stenson is the favorite to win his home event for the first time, the Nordea Masters, which begins on Thursday in Sweden. Stenson is listed at odds of +550, while fellow Swede Alex Noren is the second choice at odds of +750. Noren is coming off a fantastic comeback last week to win the BMW PGA Championship. Stenson and Noren are getting the bulk of the attention, as no other golfer is listed with odds of less than +1850.

Odds Analysis
Henrik Stenson +550
There have been five Swedes to win the Nordea Masters but Stenson is not one of them. He has finished second in this event twice and there is no reason not to like him this week. It helps his cause that he is playing at a course just around the corner from his summer house. “To me, playing in the Nordea Masters is always special and an opportunity to give something back to my Swedish fans.” Stenson said, “This year it is even better, as I can sleep in my own bed and drive my own car for the week, small things that means a lot.”
Alex Noren +750
Noren closed with a 62 last week to come from seven behind to win the BMW PGA Championship. I think it is really difficult for a player to avoid a letdown after a great win so I will be going against Noren this week.
Lee Westwood +1850
You can make a case for Westwood contending this week, as he played well last week at Wentworth and he loves playing in Sweden. He has won this event three times in just seven starts.
Matthew Fitzpatrick +2250
Fitzpatrick is an excellent scrambler and he is the defending champion of this event. He played well last week at Wentworth, as he tied for 12th and he could be a factor this week.
Peter Hanson +5050
If you really want to take a shot with a big price, then Hanson is worth a look. He won this event in 2008 and he was third in 2012. He finished second at Barseback in 2004.
Thorbjorn Olesen +5050
Don’t sleep on Olesen this week. He did miss the cut last week at Wentworth but he almost never plays well there. He finished fourth at Barseback in 2009 and he could be a live longshot this week.
Course: Barseback Golf & Country Club will be hosting this event for the 10th time but the first time since 2009. It is a par 73 that has a coastal setting. It has four par 5’s but only one par 3 on the back nine. The course features a good mix of trees and links holes. Length does not seem to be a prerequisite to winning on this course, but scrambling is, as winners have to find a way to get out of trouble. The last three winners of this event at Barseback were Luke Donald, Marc Warren and Ricardo Gonzalez.
TV Coverage: Golf Channel
Notes: The weather is expected to be very good for this event, so the 16-under that Luke Donald shot in 2004 could be challenged.
