Rory McIlroy leads the field for the Omega Dubai Desert Classic this week, as McIlroy is listed as the favorite, while Sergio Garcia is the second choice. Both McIlroy and Garcia have won this event in the past, so it is not a surprise they are the top betting choices. We went 2-3 with last week’s matchups at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Omega Dubai Desert Classic Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. This course in the Emirates is a par 72 that measures 7,328 yards. Scoring should be excellent on the first three days this week, but the wind could be a major factor on Sunday. Golfers who played last week in Abu Dhabi and did well are not necessarily those to consider this week, as the courses are different.
Rory McIlroy -141 vs. Sergio Garcia
Rory is my top play of the week and I like him in this matchup against Sergio. Rory loves playing in Dubai and he has finished in the top 10 in his last six visits to this event. Sergio won last week in Singapore and I oftentimes will go against a player trying to win in back-to-back week. Sergio is the defending champion of this event but he had never even had a top 10 in his seven previous tries before last year.
Stephen Gallacher -104 vs. Chris Paisley
I think Gallacher is worth a shot this week at big odds to win the event and I like him in this matchup against Paisley. Gallacher has won this event twice and he has six top 10 finishes in his last seven tries. Gallacher said he is finally healthy and we get a short price in this matchup.
Thomas Pieters +170 vs. Branden Grace
This is simply a price play, as I don’t understand Grace being such a big favorite. Pieters played well last week in Abu Dhabi, and there is no reason he can’t contend again this week and we get him at nearly 2-1 in this matchup.
Matthew Fitzpatrick -107 vs. Tyrrell Hatton
It is hard not to like Fitzpatrick, as he tied for 3rd last week. He has played well in the United Arab Emirates in the past with a win in Dubai. He was fifth on this course last year. I will lay the small price and take Fitzpatrick in this matchup.
Pat Perez -155 vs. Dylan Frittelli
This will be the first time for Perez in this event. He continues to play well as he tied for 4th in the Sentry Tournament of Champions and he tied for 21st in Singapore last week. I will take him in this matchup.
