The 22nd edition of the Volvo China Open gets started this week in Beijing. The event joined The European Tour International Schedule in 2004 and is the country’s longest-running professional golf tournament,
The fields are weak this time of year on the European Tour and this week is no different. Bernd Wiesberger +1600, No. 43, and Joost Luiten +800, No. 61, are the highest ranked players in the field at this week’s Volvo China Open. The casual golf fan may not of even heard of these guys, but that’s the way it is across the pond these days.
Also scheduled to play include Peter Uihlein +4000, Thorbjorn Olesen +2500, Alvaro Quiros +6000 and last week’s winner Soomin Lee +2500.
The tournament has a new venue this year. Topwin Golf and Country Club takes over as the host track and the Ian Woosnam design is simply beautiful! Situated on the northern outskirts of the capital city, at the base of the Great Wall of China in the hills of Huairou, the par 72 Championship Course opened in October 2011.The stunning parkland layout runs through rural countryside amongst fruit and pine trees, chestnut orchards, and an abundance of natural wildlife, and affords frequent views of one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

ODDS ANALYSIS
A T13 at the Shenzhen was Julien Quesne +3500 fourth straight top 15 in China, the first three were all top ten’s. The Frenchman loves playing in China! He led the putting stats at Genzon GC last week and is primed for another strong finish this week in Beijing.
Another Frenchman that will contend this week is Alexander Levy+1600. Levy had a golden chance to win last week’s Shenzhen International but found the water on the 71st hole and had to settle for T4. He is in total control of his game right now and loves playing in China. He won the 2014 China Open while he was third in last year’s edition at Tomson Shanghai Pudong GC. His last four starts on the European Tour are solid; second, fourth and top 15.
Bernd Wiesberger +1600 tried his luck on the PGA Tour and had modest success with finishes of T14 at the Cadillac, T27 Houston and a T34 at the Masters. The Austrian makes his return to the European Tour with his game in great shape. He ranked 6th in Greens In Regulation at Augusta and 2nd in GIR at the Cadillac so he’s playing some strong, solid tee-to-green golf. If he can get the putter hot, look out!
