2016 MASTERS - Preview, Odds and Predictions

2016-Masters-Preview-Betting-Odds

The azaleas will be in full bloom as the players gear up for their drive down Magnolia Lane in search the coveted Green Jacket at this week’s Masters.

World No. 1 Jason Day +700 and defending champion Jordan Spieth +850 headline the deepest field in golf.

Rory McIlroy +800, Adam Scott +1100 and Bubba Watson +1200 will also be in the mix on what should go down as one of the most exciting Masters in many years. There hasn’t been this much hype and drama since the days of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.

Augusta National Golf Club will host the event and has done so since the tournament started in 1934. The course measures 7,435 yards and plays to a par 72. Opened in 1933, Bobby Jones and co-designer Alister Mackenzie transformed the former tree nursery into not only one of golf’s most visually pleasing layouts but a stage for some of the game’s most memorable drama - Nicklaus in 1986, Mickelson’s magical shot from the pine needles on No. 13 and Tiger’s famous chip in on No. 16 - and more to come this year! The layout has been tweaked several times over the years but the club’s signature look, the magnolia trees and beautiful azaleas, are still the same, gorgeous!

Rory McIlroy tries again to complete a career Grand Slam, which would make him just the sixth in history to accomplish that feat. Bubba Watson seeks to extend the hold he has on even-numbered Masters years - hello, San Francisco Giants! He won his first green jacket in 2012, then again two years ago. Tiger Woods is sitting out yet another due to health issues and Jordan Spieth looks to duplicate last years improbable feat.

Two-time Masters winner Tom Watson makes his last start - this will be his 43rd!

Masters winner Fred Couples withdrew earlier this week due to a bad back and Jim Furyk is still sidelined with a wrist injury.

ODDS ANALYSIS

It’s an even year and you know what that means in sports, two things - Bubba Watson wins the Masters and the San Francisco Giants win the World Series. Bubba Watson +1200 says that Augusta National is his favorite course and why not, he does have two Green Jackets, make that THREE after he picks up another one this week.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello +9500 wasn’t even in the Masters a month ago and now after two strong finishes at the WGC - Dell Match Play and Shell Houston Open, the Spaniard earned his way into this week’s lineup and gets his first crack at the Green Jacket. Savvy gamers got the early odds at +16500, it’s still a bargain at +9500. Bello is a world class star on the move!

One to FADE - Martin Kaymer never plays well at the Masters. The German once tried to change his swing in order to play at Augusta National, it failed and so has his game when traveling to the Peach State where he’s missed the cut five of eight times with a best finish of T35. If Kaymer is in a golf matchup, bet against him for easy money.
