ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am - Preview, Odds and Predictions

2017-GOLF-ATT-Pebble-Beach-Pro-Am-Betting-Odds

U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson +700 and world No. 1 Jason Day +800 headline this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am that also features eight of the top 25 players in the current world rankings. Both Day and Johnson missed the cut the last time they teed it up at the Farmers Insurance Open and will look to get back on track with a strong performance at Pebble Beach.

Four-time winner Phil Mickelson +1250 makes his 22nd start in the tournament and is joined by Jordan Spieth +750, Patrick Reed +1800 and Justin Rose +1000. Mickelson had a double hernia in the off season but is playing well and appears to be back to a full go as far as his health goes. Spieth is off to a fine start and his ball striking is right on the money but it’s his putting that has let him down. Rose is off to a flying start with back-to-back top 5’s in his two starts of the year and Ryder Cup hero Reed has been struggling so far in 2017.

Other notables include veteran Jim Furyk +3250, red hot Jon Rahm +1500, PGA champion Jimmy Walker +2000, Matt Kuchar +2400 and two-time winner at Pebble Beach Brandt Snedeker +1450.

The Courses: Three courses will be used this week in the pro-am format. Pebble Beach Golf Links is the host track and has been since 1947. The spectacular venue has hosted four U.S. Opens and one PGA Championship. The layout measures 6,816 yards and plays to a par 72. Spyglass Hill Golf Club and Monterey Peninsula Country Club Shore course are the other two courses in the rotation. Spyglass Hill is arguably the toughest of the three, while Monterey Peninsula’s Shore course is the easiest.

Keep an eye on the weather. A strong weather system is expected to play a significant role the first two days and clear out by Saturday. Wind and rain may give an edge to the longer hitters, but also the players that stay patient.

TV Coverage: : Golf Channel - Thursday-Friday, 3-6 p.m. ET. Saturday-Sunday, 1-2:30 p.m. - Golf Channel, 3-6:30 p.m. - CBS.

ODDS ANALYSIS

JUSTIN ROSE +1000 is off and running to start the year and could have picked up a win in his first two starts if it wasn’t for other players playing out of their minds. Rose finished solo second in Hawaii and a T4 at Torrey Pines. In his debut at the AT&T a year ago, he was in the mix and finished T6. Bet on Justin and come out smelling like a Rose.

SLEEPER 1 - SHANE LOWRY +4000

The weather is suppose to be bad which is right up the Irishman’s alley. His T16 last week showed promise and he’s 2-for-2 at Pebble Beach with a T21 in 2015. After a lackluster year, Lowry is due to step it up and perform like we know he can.

SLEEPER 2 - J.J. SPAUN +4950

In his last two starts, he has impressed with a T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open and backed it up last week with a solid T4 in Phoenix. Spaun continues to surprise and you may as well get on him while his hot streak continues.
