ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am Preview, Odds and Predictions

2018-GOLF-ATT-Pebble-Beach-Pro-Am-Odds-To-Win-PGA-preview-Bet-Online

A strong field is assembled for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am that begins on Thursday, led by World No. 1 Dustin Johnson. He is listed as the favorite to win this tournament at odds of +550, but he should get a test from other top players including Jon Rahm, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy. Spieth is the defending champion, but his form has been off so far this year and he is not among the favorites. Let’s look at the tournament and predictions.

Odds Analysis

Dustin Johnson +550

The best player in the world right now is Johnson and if he plays well this week he is capable of running away with this tournament. He won in 2009 and in 2019 and he finished second in 2014 and third last year. I can see a lot of reasons to take him this week and no reasons to go against him. I think he has value even at these low odds.

Jon Rahm +950

There is no doubt that Rahm has the talent to win golf tournaments, but too often his temper gets in the way. That will probably be the case this week with all of the distractions going on at Pebble. I think he is overvalued at these odds. This is also his fourth start in a row and fifth start in six weeks, so fatigue could be an issue.

Rory McIlroy +1000

This will be the first time that Rory is playing this event. He did play the 2010 US Open at Pebble and missed the cut. I usually like backing Rory, but I don’t know that I want to do it this week, as Rory simply doesn’t have a lot of experience on this course.

Jason Day +1000

When Day is healthy he is one of the best golfers in the world. Right now his back is good but that can change in a moment’s notice. He won the Farmers two weeks ago and he could contend again this week. It would be fun to watch a Johnson vs. Day battle on Sunday.

Jordan Spieth +1150

It was ugly last week for Spieth who simply didn’t seem ready to play. I know he is the defending champion but I didn’t like what I saw from Jordan last week. I am going to avoid him until he figures things out on the greens.

Brandt Snedeker +3250

My longshot this week is Snedeker who loves to play at Pebble. His health has been an issue recently, but Snedeker said he is ready to go this week. Putting at Pebble is a huge key and Snedeker has been known as one of the best putters on the PGA Tour.

Course: Pebble Beach Golf Links is a par 72 that measures 6,816 yards. It is one of the most picturesque golf courses in the world. It should be noted that in the first three days of the event, Spyglass Hill GC and Monterey Peninsula CC’s Shore course are also used. Keep in mind that the cut in this event is after 54 holes and not 32 holes.
