The PGA Tour heads to the old stomping grounds of the late, great, Sam Snead who was the head pro at The Old White TPC for much of his life and called Greenbrier his home.
World No. 3 Bubba Watson ( +1215 ) is fresh off his play-off win in last week’s Travelers Championship and now has his eyes set on winning the Greenbrier Classic, a place he calls home for half of the year. Watson has a summer home at the Greenbrier and would like to taste victory in his home community.
Other notable players scheduled to compete include the villain Patrick Reed ( +2550 ), underrated Paul Casey ( +2550 ), rookies Justin Thomas ( 5250 ) and Tony Finau ( +3250 ). Oh, I forgot to include the No. 220 ranked player in the world, Tiger Woods ( +6050 ). Taichi Teshima and Angelo Que ( I never heard of them ) are now ranked ahead of Eldrick Woods.
The Old White TPC will host the event for the sixth consecutive year. The layout measures 7,287 yards and will play to a par 70. The Old White’s 18th was the scene of Sam Snead’s final hole-in-one in 1995. The PGA TOUR arrived in 2011, immediately going into the record book as Stuart Appleby’s closing 59 propelled him to win the first Greenbrier Classic.

Kevin Na ( +4550 ) is a streaky player and it works both ways, both good and bad. Na missed the cut last week at the Travelers Championship and was average T46 at the U.S. Open the week before. He is trending in the wrong direction and one player to stay away from this week at the Greenbrier Classic.
Graham DeLaet ( +3550 ) is trending in the right direction, his fourth place finish last week at the Travelers was his third straight top 30 and best of the year. The Canadian finished 12th here in 2012 so he is no stranger to the layout and will parlay last week’s momentum into another strong performance this week in West Virginia.
David Lingmerth won earlier this year at The Memorial and has a good track record at the Old White TPC with two strong finishes; T9 in 2013 and T16 last year.
Paul Casey ( +2550 ) is having a strong year on the PGA Tour with two playoff losses and six other top ten finishes. The Englishman doesn’t get much love or respect when it comes to value, but yet all he does is play well week after week. This will be Casey’s first appearance at The Greenbrier Classic. First-timers have won all five editions of the Greenbrier Classic, another reason to back the Englishman.
