Defending champion Jason Dufner +3500, Patrick Reed +1200 and Phil Mickelson +1500 headline this week’s CareerBuilder Challenge held in La Quinta, California. Reed is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 8 and Mickelson is a two-time winner in the desert and also an ambassador for the tournament.
Other notable players scheduled to compete include Webb Simpson +3000, Zach Johnson +2050, Emiliano Grillo +2250, Brandan Steele +3000, Jon Rahm +2500, Charles Howell III +2200 and Francesco Molinari +1750. Sponsors exemptions were given to Brandon Stone, Aaron Wise and Arnold Palmer’s grandson, Sam Saunders.
The Course: TPC Stadium Course at PGA West is the host course. The Pete Dye design measures 7,113 yards and plays to a par 72. The course was unveiled at the 1986 Skins Game and joined the Bob Hope rotation in 1987, but lasted just one year when players petitioned for its removal. It was too tough! Two other courses will be used the first three days of this pro-am format; PGA West’s Nicklaus Tournament course and La Quinta Country Club.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Bill Haas +2000 is a two-time winner of this event and consistently plays well on a weekly basis. The former Wake Forest star loves playing in the desert where he’s churned out 39 straight rounds under par. He also is in good foen with four top 20’s in his last four starts. Haas is a great play in all formats this week.
LONG SHOT: Brandon Stone +7500 makes a rare start on the PGA Tour. The young South African plays regularly on the European Tour but was given a sponsors exemption this week. Stone has won twice across the pond and is a sneaky pick this week. At +7500, he’s worth taking the chance.
Keep your eye on Aaron Wise this week. He is a rookie on Tour and can flat out play. Wise won the NCAA tournament a year ago and will make good on his sponsor’s exemption this week.
