Odds Analysis
Justin Thomas +750
You can obviously make a case for taking Thomas, as he is coming off a fantastic season, but he wasn’t that great at the CIMB Classic, as he finished in a tie for 17th. I am a little surprised that Thomas hasn’t taken more time off after last season, and he could be a little overvalued at these odds.
Paul Casey +950
Casey would have had a chance to win the CIMB Classic if not for shooting 77 in the opening round. He came back to shoot 63, 69 and 65 in the next three rounds. I think Casey will be in contention for the win this week.
Jason Day +1050
Do you know the last time that Day won a PGA tournament? It was at the 2016 PLAYERS. He withdrew at the BMW and in the TOUR Championship. Maybe Day is finally healthy and ready to go but I am not taking him until I see him contend for a win.
Xander Schauffele +1550
Schauffele is coming off a great rookie season that included a win at the TOUR Championship. He has shown no fear of the big boys and won’t be intimidating playing with Thomas or Day and he has done well on tough courses. I would not be surprised at all if Schauffele got the win this week.
Marc Leishman +2050
Leishman has not played since finishing in a tie for 24th at the TOUR Championship. I don’t know that he will be entirely focused for this event and I also think it may take him a week or so to get back into form.
Tony Finau +2050
Finau played well at the Safeway Open but just couldn’t quite get the win. His length should do well on this course in Korea and he proved two weeks ago that he is already in top form.
Daniel Berger +3050
I think there is a ton of value in taking Berger to win this week. He won his first tournament last season and he does everything well. He is up to 27th in the latest World Rankings. He finished last season in the top 25 in scoring average and in birdie average.
Gary Woodland +4050
My longshot this week is Woodland who got back into action last week at the CIMB Classic. He should do better than his tie for 28th last week, as the course in Korea should favor big hitters.
Course: The Club at Nine Bridges is a par 72 that measures 7,196 yards. It is located on Jeju Island and opened in 2001. It is a course that has received a lot of accolades, as it is ranked among the top 100 courses in the world. The course has hosted an LPGA event and it hosts the World Club Championship.
