Playing the second of back-to-back weeks in his home state, Jordan Spieth +685 looks to get in the winner’s circle at the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational. Spieth is still searching for his first win in Texas and it won’t be easy with a ton of top notch players in the field this week. Since his collapse at The Masters, Spieth has a missed cut at The PLAYERS and a T18 last week at the Nelson.
Nine of the top 30 in the current world rankings are set to test their skills on infamous Colonial Country Club in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Adam Scott +1250, Matt Kuchar +1300, Zach Johnson +2300 and Jim Furyk +4500 are all scheduled to compete this week. Scott won here in 2014 and is the only player to complete the “Texas Slam” with wins at Colonial, Byron Nelson, Houston and San Antonio. Johnson is a two-time winner at Colonial, Kuchar is red hot at the moment with back-to-back top 5’s in his last two starts and Furyk is back for his third event of the year after having wrist surgery in February.
Last year Chris Kirk +3500 notched his fourth PGA TOUR victory, capping a closing 4-under-par 66 with a 7-foot par save that left him one stroke ahead of Jordan Spieth, Brandt Snedeker and Jason Bohn. Kirk hooked his tee shot at No.18 into the left rough, then watched his approach fail to hold the green but calmly chipped it close and made the putt to secure the win.
Now starting its eighth decade as a host venue, Colonial Country Club is an old school type layout that measures 7,204 yards and plays to a par 70. Its doglegs and tight fairways offer the professionals a tough test of golf. Ball-strikers and straight drivers have the edge this week. The TOUR's arrival in 1946 makes Colonial the longest-running host site on the circuit and it’s no stranger to hosting big time events. The prestigious club opened in 1936 and attracted the U.S Open five years later. It also staged the second edition of THE PLAYERS Championship in 1975, the 1991 U.S. Women’s Open and Annika Sorenstam’s historic venture in 2003 as the first woman to play a PGA TOUR event since World War II.
Quick Tip - No 54-hole leader at Colonial has claimed the trophy since Phil Mickelson in 2008. That’s good to know on Saturday nights updated golf odds - history tells us that the leader will not win.

ODDS ANALYSIS
If ever there was a course built for Zach Johnson +2300, Colonial Country Club would be it. Johnson works the ball both ways when he needs to, drives the ball on a string and if he gets the putter going, he will add a third trophy to his collection, having already won here in 2010 and 2012. Johnson is a green light in all formats this week.
You have to ride a player when he is in a groove and playing well and that player right now is Matt Kuchar +1600. The last two weeks he’s carved out to top three performances and is on the verge of adding to that this week at Colonial - a layout that is perfect for Kuchar’s strong tee to green style of play.
