2016-GOLF-Deutsche-Bank-Champioship-Betting-Odds

The top 100 players in FedEx Cup points head to Boston this weekend for the Deutsche Bank Championship that begins on Friday and concludes on Labor Day. World No. 1 Jason Day is listed as the favorite but he has some ground to make up on Patrick Reed who won The Barclays last week. The Top 70 players in points after this week’s tournament will advance to the BMW Championship.

Top Contenders

Day is listed at odds of +625 to win this week and he is a deserving favorite as he has never missed a cut in his career at TPC Boston and he has finished in the top 20 in six of the last seven years.

Dustin Johnson tied for 18th last week at The Barclays and he has eight top 20 finishes in his last nine starts. He has finished fourth twice at TPC Boston and his length always gives him a chance to win. Johnson is listed at odds of +1200.

Reed won The Barclays last week and he has finished in the top 15 in six of his last seven starts. He has not been that great in his career at the Deutsche Bank Championship but he did tie for fourth last year. Reed is listed at +2585.

Rickie Fowler is the defending champion of this event and he was in contention last week at The Barclays before struggling down the stretch. He is the seventh choice in the betting odds at +2400.

Live Longshots

Adam Scott is listed with odds of +2250 and that makes him an attractive longshot pick. His first PGA Tour win came at TPC Boston back in 2003 and he had three straight top 10 finishes in this event.

Emiliano Grillo is listed with odds of +4000. He played well last week at The Barclays and is gaining confidence each week. It could be that he breaks through with a win at TPC Boston.

Tournament Notes

The TPC Boston is a par 72 that measures 7.297 yards. The Deutsche Bank Championship has a different schedule than regular PGA Tour events as it begins on a Friday and ends on a Monday.

Masters champion Danny Willett is not in the field for this event and it could be that Open champion Henrik Stenson doesn’t play either as he withdrew last week due to knee trouble.

Last year it was Fowler coming from three shots down over the final nine holes to defeat Stenson.

The past six winners of the Deutsche Bank Championship have come from behind on the final day. Only 4 of 13 winners have held on to their 54-hole lead and won.

Golf Channel will provide the TV coverage on Friday and Saturday while NBC will show the action on Sunday and Monday.

Golf Predictions

I will take Day as my top choice at odds of +625 and also go with a couple of longshots in Grillo and Koepka at odds of +4000 each.
