Jon Rahm will look to make it two straight wins, as he tees it up in the Farmers Insurance Open which begins on Thursday. Rahm is listed as the favorite at odds of +850, but many people will be paying attention to Tiger Woods in his return to the PGA Tour. Woods played last month at the Hero World Challenge and looked pretty good, but this will be his first PGA tournament since his latest back surgery. Woods is listed as fifth choice in the betting at odds of +1850. Let’s look at the tournament and predictions.

Odds Analysis
Jon Rahm +850
Rahm won last week at the CareerBuilder Challenge and he is the defending champion of this event. I almost never take a player to win in back-to-back weeks, so I won’t be playing Rahm this week, but his length off the tee definitely give him a chance if he is in contention for the final two rounds on the South Course.
Rickie Fowler +1250
Did you know that Rickie has won seven times since 2015? He tied for 4th at the Sentry Tournament of Champions to begin this year. He has two top 10 finishes in this event and it is a homecoming, as he grew up about an hour away from Torrey Pines.
Hideki Matsuyama +1550
Matsuyama has three top-five finishes in his last three starts. Matsuyama is a tough player to predict, as it is normally all or nothing with him. He has never really done much in this event, so this could be the nothing week.
Justin Rose +1650
I am surprised that Rose didn’t play better in Abu Dhabi last week, as he tied for 22nd. He still has three wins in his last seven starts. He tied for 4th in this event a year ago. I think Rose could be undervalued at these odds.
Tiger Woods +1850
There is no question that Tiger is going to attract a lot of betting interest, but not from me. Woods has won this event seven times and he looked decent in the Hero World Challenge, but even in that event he didn’t challenge for the win. Tiger is going to have to show me he is ready to compete at the highest level and I think he is completely overvalued at these odds. Maybe if he was listed at 50-1 or more, but not at these odds.
Jason Day +2050
I am still not entirely sold Day is back to his former self. He did play better to end 2017, but until he shows me he can contend for a win I am not ready to back him, especially since this is his first tournament in two months.
Charley Hoffman +6550
My longshot this week is Hoffman who has been one of my favorite players in the matchups. He is from San Diego so he knows this course well. I am shocked he is listed at odds this high.
Course: The South Course at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California is a par 72 that measures 7,698 yards. It is a picturesque course with cliffs along the Pacific Ocean. It will host the final two rounds of this event, while the first two rounds will be split between the South Course and the North Course. The North Course is a par 72 that is much shorter at 7,258 yards.
