The John Deere Classic is scheduled to start July 13-16, 2017. CBS and Golf Channel will televise the event.
With the Open Championship on deck for next week, the betting field for this week’s John Deere Classic takes a hit with the top players either taking the week off or playing in Europe.
The show must go on and Iowa native and 2012 champion Zach Johnson headlines the field that features six of this season’s tournament winners and seven of the FedExCup top 30.
Daniel Berger at No. 20, is the highest ranked player teeing it up this week and will be joined by three-time winner of JDC Steve Stricker, Kyle Stanley, Brian Harman and Charles Howell III. Stricker remains the only player to win the event three consecutive years. Stanley recently won the Quicken Loans National, Harman won at Wells Fargo and contended at the U.S. Open and Howell III is rock solid every week.
Other notables that will garner attention include Charley Hoffman, defending champion Ryan Moore, Wesley Bryan, Kelly Kraft, Kevin Tway and world No. 42, Bubba Watson who makes a rare appearance at the tournament.
There is a special perk for the players this week. The final Open Championship berth is up for grabs and awaits the highest top-5 finisher who hasn’t already punched his ticket to Royal Birkdale.
TPC Deere Run is the host track for the 19th year and typically it yields low scores. The layout measures 7,268 yards and plays to a par 71. It was the place where seven years ago, where Paul Goydos carded just the fourth 59 recorded on the PGA TOUR. Eventual winner Steve Stricker shot 60 that day.
Last year Ryan Moore played bogey-free golf for the last 46 holes to claim his fifth PGA tour title. The victory strated a run of four top-10 finishes in six starts for Moore to place seventh in the final FedExCup standings and earn his way on to the Ryder Cup team as a captain’s selection, where he helped the Americans celebrate their first win since 2008.

ODDS ANALYSIS and PREDICTIONS
Daniel Summerhays +3000 keeps knocking on the door and one of these times he’s going to break through. He has a great track record here - he finished T4 - T13 and T8 here from 2013-2015. He contended in his last start at the Quicken Loans and should be in the mix this week.
New Zealander Danny Lee +1700 has been making a lot of noise the past few months, making his last seven cuts and moving up 18 spots in the President’s Cup standings in the process. He finished T3 here the last time he played in 2015.
Bubba Watson +4500 offers gamers the best value on the board. He’s been off his game but the generous driving areas should play right into his hands. He knows it’s time to step it up and show us his real game. I think Watson contends this week!
