Home town boy Martin Kaymer ( +1190 ) joins Henrik Stenson ( +725 ) and defending champion Fabrizio Zanotti at this week’s BMW International Open.
Kaymer is coming off a poor performance at the U.S. Open where he failed to make the cut, but has high hopes on his return home, saying, “It is always very special for me to play in front of my home crowd. I haven’t given them too much to cheer since my win in 2008, but hopefully this year I can put on a good show. The week after a Major Championship can sometimes be a quite difficult, especially with a nine-hour time difference, so I’m sure I’ll feel a little tired but I won’t need any extra motivation to get into the right mindset this week.”
Stenson played average at last week’s U.S. Open, finishing T27, and looks to return to the top this week on a course where has tasted victory in the past winning the 2006 BMW International Open.
Defending champion Zanotti hasn’t played well since last years victory and will be a long shot this week and fifty/fifty just to make the cut.
Golfclub Munchen Eichenried is the host course this week and it has hosted 22 of the previous 26 BMW International Opens. The course is flat and short ( 7,181 yards ) and the players will need to take it deep if they want to contend this week. The last 10 winning scores were -18, -16, -18, -22, -15-, -13, -15, -23, -21 and -19, so as you can see, birdies and eagles will be flying.
The key to success at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried is hitting the greens. The last seven out of ten winners have all been inside the top 10 in greens in regulation.

The 2013 U.S. Amateur champion Matt Fitzpatrick ( +5989 ) is having a stellar rookie year and has reeled off four top 25s in his last five starts, which includes a T8 at the Irish Open and a third in the Lyoness Open two weeks ago. The kid hits it straight and ranks 7th in greens in regulation which happens to be a key this week
Marcel Siem is Germany’s other “name” golfer but is not a candidate for consideration. Even though he has made the top 15 here in his last two starts ( T10 in 2013 and T14 in 2011 ), his current form is awful. He missed the cut at last week’s U.S. Open which was his fifth missed cut in a row. He will be on the board this week and I highly suggest betting against the German.
Chris Wood ( +2000 ) is back on track after an injury sidelined the Englishman at the start of 2015. He tied for fourth at the BMW Championship and backed it up with a T14 at the Irish Open before winning the Lyoness Open. Wood is a streaky player and he is in one of those streaks where he is playing really well. Bet ON Wood in the weekly golf betting matchups.
Victor Dubuisson ( +4050 ) missed yet another cut at last week’s U.S. The flamboyant Frenchman is still the 37th ranked player in the world, but slipping by the week and soon will be dropping out of the top 50. He has no game right now and as long as the sportsbooks are putting him on the board, I am fading the Frenchman.
