World No. 2 Jordan Spieth ( +1050 ) and defending champion Adam Scott ( +1760 ) are the betting favorites for this week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational. Spieth will be looking for his first victory in his home state after finishing second earlier in the year at both the Shell Houston Open and San Antonio. Scott will try to join Ben Hogan as the only man to notch back-to-back wins at Colonial.
Colonial Country Club will once again host the tournament and is the longest running host course on the PGA Tour ( 1946 ). The venue has passed the test of time and still today is one of the most challenging tests on the circuit.
Course management will be a key issue this week, length off the tee is no advantage this week, it’s more about position and ball control.

Zach Johnson ( +1500 ) looks to win at Colonial for the third time in the last six year’s. The steady veteran is the all-time leading money winner at Colonial. His deft putting stroke has returned which will vault him to another strong performance this week in Texas.
Australian John Senden ( +6250 ) is playing some great flat-stick with aT5 at the WGC-Match Play followed up by a T8 at THE PLAYERS in his last two starts. Senden’s game is a perfect match for Colonial Country Club where ball-striking and accuracy are the keys to success. The Aussie finished T5 here last year and I believe he does even better this week.
On the flip side, Aussie Adam Scott ( +3350 ) is struggling to find his game, primarily due to his putting. Until I see an improvement in his putting and confidence, I am fading him, big time!
