FedEx Cup leader Jordan Spieth ( +760 ), major champion Justin Rose ( +1900 ) and long-hitting Dustin Johnson ( +1300 ) headline the Memorial Tournament that boasts 15 of the top 25 in the current world golf rankings.
Spieth is a contender whenever he tees it up and Rose has a great track record at the Memorial with a win ( 2010 ), a second ( 2008 ) and four other top 15’s.
Johnson’s length off the tee give him a huge advantage but he has struggled to avoid the dreaded “others”. Last week he was tied for the lead in the early going, final day, before a quadruple bogey on the sixth hole ruined his chances of winning.
Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama ( +2050 ) is back to try and become just the second player to win in back-to-back years.
Six rookies are in the field led by Justin Thomas ( +5750 ). The other rookies include Daniel Berger ( +6750 ), Carlos Ortiz, Tony Finau ( +9550 ), Zach Blair and Patrick Rodgers. Rodgers, who tied for second at Quail Hollow, has one more start to earn the final 10 FedExCup points that would grant him Special Temporary status, basically all he has to do is make the cut. C’mon kid, make the cut, I am pulling for you!
Tiger Woods ( +2850 ) is the only player to win the Memorial four times. Woods has fallen all the way to No. 156 in the world golf rankings and his game at the moment is a great big question mark. He did make the cut in his last start at THE PLAYERS but finished way down the list ( T69 ). We are now talking about Tiger making cuts, years ago there was never a question if he would make the cut but now we really don’t know what kind of game he has. Woods brings excitement to any tournament he plays in, even if it’s only for two days.

Chris Kirk ( +3250 ) is a quiet assassin! His attitude remains the same on good or bad shots. He is one of the most consistent ball-strikers on the PGA Tour. His putting is very streaky and always seems to heat up on the weekend. Kirk won his last start at Colonial and has good vibes coming back to Muirfield Village where he finished T4 last year. The sky's the limit for the soft spoken Georgian.
Steve Stricker ( +8050 ) is back playing a limited schedule and the 2011 Memorial champion usually heats up in the summer months. He offers bettors great value at +8050.
Ernie Els ( +20050 ) is making his 22nd start at the Memorial this week and how can a guy that has won big events, including the Memorial ( 2004 ), be +20050. He is worth a play this week at that absurd number.
