PGA Tour Golf Odds - Northern Trust Open

2016-Northern-Trust-Open-Betting-Odds

The last stop on the West Coast Swing gets underway this week at the infamous Riviera Country Club and they may have saved the best for last as we are headed for a showdown between the two top players in the world.

Both Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are ready to compete in a field that boasts five of the top 10 and 15 of the top 30 in the current world golf rankings. Spieth finished a stroke out of the playoff last year and Mcilroy is making his first visit to Riviera.

All eyes will be on the top two players but the betting field is loaded! Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson, Dustin Johnson and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama are all scheduled to tee it up this week.

Riviera Country Club is a gem and the players love playing the old school type layout that has withstood the test of time. The Los Angeles Open first arrived in 1929, and Ben Hogan’s three wins in an 18-month span – two L.A. Opens and the 1948 U.S. Open – earned Riviera the nickname “Hogan’s Alley.” The venue is unique - he par-3 sixth is famed for its bunker in the middle of the green, and No. 10, according to Jack Nicklaus, is the best drivable par-4 in golf.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Jordan Spieth +575 will be tough to beat this week! He closed last week with a final round 66 to finish T21 after a sluggish go of it over the first three days. He will ride the momentum of his last round, fine tune his short game and come on top for his second win of the year. Spieth will likely be paired up against Rory McIlroy in the golf matchups, it’s Rodney Dangerfield-like, Easy Money to take Spieth in this power, marquee matchup.

Keegan Bradley +4500 has fallen off the planet as of late and needs a strong finish to regain some of his lost confidence. Bradley is due to play well at some point and there is no better place for him to come out of his recent funk, then Riviera, where he always seems to be in the mix on Sunday afternoon.

Hideki Matsuyama +1050 is a flat out stud! The 23 year-old is already one of the best players in the world and the scary thing is, he’s only going to get better. The product of Japan came close last year by missing the playoff by a single stroke. He won in his last start at the Waste Management so you know his confidence level is riding high. Top five for sure and possibly a win this week for Matsuyama.
