A total of 24 players split into 12 teams will compete in this week’s QBE Shootout in Florida. It is an event that takes place over three days with the teams competing in a scramble format on Friday, a modified alternate shot format on Saturday and a better ball format on Sunday. The team of Harris English and Matt Kuchar is listed as the favorite at odds of +506, while the team of Kevin Chappell and Kevin Kisner is the second choice at +658. We are coming off a 2-2-1 week with the matchup picks at the Hero World Challenge. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s QBE Shootout.

QBE Shootout Matchup Picks

Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. The scramble format on Friday has each player hitting a shot and then the team selects the best shot. The format on Saturday has the players alternating shots, while the format on Sunday has players using their own ball with the best score on each hole being used. The Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida is held on the Greg Norman-designed Gold course, which features pine trees, water hazards and waste areas.

Hoffman C / Johnson Z -110 vs. Harman B / Perez P

If you follow the matchup picks each week then you know that I really like to back Hoffman and he has come through on most occasions. I will take him again this week in this pairing with Johnson. I know Harman and Perez have played well this year, but I will still take Hoffman over either of them and Johnson can more than hold his own.

Berger D / Woodland G -140 vs. Dufner J / Horschel B

Berger and Woodland have played this event in the past but this will be their first pairing as a team. Berger finished third two years ago, while Woodland was fifth. Dufner and Horschel have plenty of experience in this event as well, and Dufner won it with Snedeker in 2015. I will lay the price and take Berger and Woodland in this matchup.

Lowry S / McDowell G -115 vs. Snedeker B / Watson B

This play is all about going against Snedeker and Watson. It has been a while since either of these two has played well. Lowry and McDowell should make an excellent team and I expect them to win this matchup.

Henley R / Stanley K -110 vs. Bradley K / Steele B

Henley and Stanley both won on the PGA Tour this season and I think this is a really good pairing, as Henley should be able to set up Stanley to make a lot of putts. Bradley and Steele have not played together in this event since 2012 when they finished 7th. They did win this event as a pair in 2011.

Finau T / Thompson L +120 vs. O”Hair S / Stricker S

I wasn’t going to play this matchup until I read that Stricker hasn’t played in a while and admitted he is rusty. Finau can hit the ball a ton and Thompson will not be intimated playing with the boys. O’Hair hasn’t played that well in recent years and with Stricker out of form, I think Finau and Thompson can win this matchup.
