RSM Classic Matchup Picks

Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. The Seaside Course at St. Simons is a short par 70 that measures just 7,005 yards. Players will play the longer Plantation Course which is 7,058 yards in one of the four rounds, but it is a par 72. Distance off the tee is not much of a factor this week, so we’ll consider greens-in-regulation as one of our key stats.

Kevin Kisner -109 vs. Brian Harman

This will be the season debut for Kisner who is coming off an excellent season that saw him play for the United States in the Presidents Cup. Kisner was 75th in greens-in-regulation last season on the PGA Tour, while Harman ranked 137th. I will lay the small price and take Kisner in this matchup.

Patrick Rodgers +100 vs. Bubba Watson

Rodgers led last week at Mayakoba after two rounds but finished in a tie for 14th. He finished tied for 10th in this event a year ago. Watson hasn’t played well in quite a well and he ranks very poorly in our key stat of the week, as he was 161st on the PGA Tour in GIR last season.

Jamie Lovemark -120 vs. Patton Kizzire

Lovemark has been putting much better this season, as he ranks 24th on the PGA Tour. He has finished in the top 10 in his event in each of the last two years. This is also a play against Kizzire, as he almost has to have a letdown after winning at Mayakoba last week. I will lay the price and take Lovemark in this matchup.

JJ Spaun -120 vs. Russell Knox

Spaun finished in a tie for 14th in Mexico and he tied for 10th in Las Vegas. He is hitting greens in regulation at 74.4% this season. I also noticed the odds on Spaun winning this event dropped a little bit and it is never a bad idea to follow the money. I will take Spaun in this matchup against Knox.

Stewart Cink -160 vs. Andrew Johnston

This is a key stat matchup of the week, as Cink ranked 18th on the PGA Tour last season in GIR, while Johnston ranks 172nd on the European Tour in GIR. I will lay the price and take Cink.
