The European Tour moves on from The Open Championship and heads to Switzerland for the 2015 Omega European Masters. High in the beautiful Swiss Alps, a strong field has assembled to contest this event.
After a nine year absence Sergio Garcia +785 returns to the Omega European Masters. He is the highest ranked player in the field and also the clear-cut betting favorite. The Spaniard won this event in 2005 and in his last three visits to Switzerland, he has finished fourth or better. He also played well at the Open Championship where he contended late in the final round before a couple of late bogies derailed his chances before settling for a T6.
Other notables scheduled to compete include American Patrick Reed +1850, Danny Willett +1525, Lee Westwood +2315 and Tommy Fleetwood +2013.
Crans-sur-Sierre is the host course this week and it holds the distinction of being the only venue to host a European Tour event in every season since The European Tour’s inauguration in 1972, and has held the tournament every year it has been played since 1939.
Last year David Lipsky prevailed after a play-off with Graeme Storm to capture his debut European Tour title. He said: “It’s great to be back in Crans as the defending champion, it’s a beautiful part of the world and I couldn’t have picked a better place to win my first European Tour event”.
The Omega European Masters is also the only European Tour event staged in Europe which is co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour, an arrangement which began in 2009.

Danny Willett +1525 tied for sixth in last week’s Open Championship after contending the first three rounds. Last year at the Omega European Masters, he fired rounds of 63 and 64 on the weekend to climb into the top five. Willett continues his stellar play with another top five this week in Switzerland.
Richie Ramsay +3515 won this event in 2012 and also finished in the top-10 last year. He made the cut in last week’s Open Championship, sits 39th in the Race to Dubai standings and with a strong finish this week, Ramsay can lock up a berth to the season long competition.
American Patrick Reed +1850 relishes the challenge of playing in Europe in a hostile environment. He thrived at the Ryder Cup and he will do well this week. Reed has made it clear that he would like to play more in Europe and maintain his playing privileges on the European Tour. With a strong performance this week he will be on his way to achieving that goal.
