The U.S Open is here! This is my favorite major, where we get to see the best in the world struggle to make pars. Oakmont Country Club is the host track and it’s arguably the toughest course in the world.
Defending champion Jordan Spieth recently played a practice round at Oakmont and said, “Oakmont is the toughest course in America.” He went on to say that par’s are like gold and if he can shoot even par for four rounds, he will win.
Phil Mickelson recently played Oakmont and had this to say, "I've played Oakmont the last two days, and I really think it is the hardest golf course we've ever played," Mickelson is still searching for his first U.S. Open win to complete his own “Grand Slam.”
If both Spieth and Mickelson are saying it’s that tough, just imagine how tough it will be. Brutal, just brutal!
Let’s take a look at the live betting odds where you can find some real value and some real sleepers that have a chance this week.

The thing I am looking for first is a player that drives the ball well. Total driving is a key ingredient to excel this week. Players that drive it long but also drive it straight.
Lucas Glover +25000 has a U.S. open title to his name and also is one of the best drivers in the game. He hits it long and straight and also is in the top five in greens in regulation. Everyone is going to struggle with the short game this week and this may help Glover, who often struggles with the flatstick. Glover at +25000 is a real bargain.
Another player that drives it straight and hits a lot of greens is Jim Furyk +8125. He also has a U.S. Open win and is no stranger to the Oakmont course having played it multiple times growing up in Pennsylvania.
He also finished second back in 2007 - the last time Oakmont Country Club played host for the U.S. Open.
Furyk at +8125 is real value and he should be used in all formats this week.
I can’t wait to see the action unfold, to see a professional 4-putt from 15 feet or to see someone shoot 90, yes, I said 90 - the course is that tough.
