The first full field event on the 2017 PGA Tour season is this week in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Olympic Gold medalist Justin Rose +1900, last week’s winner Justin Thomas +1000 and World No. 5 Jordan Spieth +600 headline the Sony Open in Hawaii which boasts 22 players that played last week at the SBS Tournament of Champions. Hideki Matsuyama +650, Daniel Berger +2750, Brandt Snedeker +1550, Jimmy Walker +1250 and Jason Dufner +4750 are a few of the players we will see that teed it up last week in Maui.
The Course: Waialae Country Club, Honolulu, Hawaii
Waialae Country Club will host the tournament for the 53rd time, a feat only exceeded by four other venues. The layout measures 7,044 yards and plays to a par 70. Waialae opened in 1927 and hosted its first Hawaiian Open in 1969. It’s one of the shorter tracks on the PGA Tour but the tradewinds can create havoc if they blow and make the course much more challenging.
The weather forecast is perfect for scoring this week and we can expect the winning score to be 20-under par or lower. The players will take it deep this week!

ODDS ANALYSIS
Since the Tournament of Champions moved to Hawaii 16 years ago, 11 Sony Open winners have done it after playing Kapalua the previous week. Ernie Els is the only one to sweep both events, doing so in 2003. Justin Thomas, you have a chance!
Although Charles Howell III +4000 has never won at Waialae, he has seven top 5’s and is looking for more this week. Howell III is getting up there in age and needs to get off to a fast start in 2016 to gain confidence and think that he can still win on the PGA Tour. Howell III offers gamers great value at +4000 and won’t disappoint with another top five finish.
Veteran players often do well at Waialae Country Club and I can not pass on 2009 Sony Open winner Zach Johnson at +4999. The two-time major winner loves the course and his game is suited perfectly for the tight, short layout that requires accuracy off the tee and control with approach shots.
