The PGA TOUR returns to Alabama for the first time in a quarter-century, dating all the way back to the 1990 PGA Championship at Shoal Creek, at this week’s Barbasol Championship.

With golf’s top names over at St. Andrews, the Barbasol offers a prime opportunity for someone to pick up his first victory and jump start their career.

The inaugural event boasts a 132-man betting field highlighted by players from both the PGA Tour, European Tour and Web.com Tour.

Boo Weekley ( +2852 ), Charles Howell III ( +2696 ) and Chad Campbell ( +2567 ) are three players all of you have probably heard of, but after that, unless you are an avid golf fan, names like Patton Kizzire ( +2702 ), Austin Cook ( +2567 ) and Will Wilcox ( +2202 ) don’t ring a bell, even though all three are playing well and should contend this week.

Emiliano Grillo ( +2252 ), Andres Romero ( +2567 ) and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano ( +6250 ) give the Barbasol Championship some international flavor.

The Barbasol Championship golf odds and golf matchups are up and ready to play at BookMaker Sportsbook. BookMaker was the first sportsbook to have the live odds and golf matchups available to wager on.

The tournament is in Alabama so I was thinking, why not take a couple of Alabama boys, actually Auburn grads, sorry Nick Saban. Will Wilcox ( +2202 ) is an Alabama native who grew up in Birmingham and now lives just a few blocks away from the host venue. He played his college golf in the area, knows the course well and is having an outstanding year with six top 25’s in 12 starts. Patton Kizzire ( +2702 ) is also an Auburn product who is currently the leading money winner on the Web.com Tour. Both players are excellent picks this week.

I have a gut feeling that Andres Romero ( +2567 ) is going to play well this week. The Argentinian is playing well with a T14 at the U.S. Open and a T7 at the Greenbrier Classic in two of his previous three starts. Romero makes a ton of birdies and should thrive on the resort course where the fairways are wide open.
