Odds Analysis
Dustin Johnson +605
It is hard to not like the chances of Johnson winning The Masters. He is the top ranked golfer in the world and the hottest one, having won his last three events. He has also finished in the Top 10 in the last two Masters. He would have contended last year if not for two double bogeys in the final round. The last No. 1 ranked player to win The Masters was Tiger Woods in 2002.
Jordan Spieth +887
There is no doubting the talent of Spieth, as he won The Masters two years ago but I don’t know that he can simply put last year’s collapse behind him in one year. And Spieth isn’t playing well lately, as he didn’t make the cut last week in Texas. I think Spieth is overvalued at these odds.
Rory McIlroy +850
If Johnson doesn’t win then it could be Rory who takes The Masters title. He could complete the career Grand Slam with a win. He is playing well and he always seems to be in contention at Augusta. He has finished in the Top 10 in the last three Masters and he has shot under par in 10 of his past 12 rounds at Augusta.
Rickie Fowler +2101
Could this be the year that Fowler wins his first Major? He is almost always in contention and he is playing really well this year including a good finish in Texas last week.
Phil Mickelson +2602
I give Mickelson as chance this week, as he is playing well and he has won The Masters three times. The key for Phil is keeping the ball in the fairway and making short putts.
Justin Rose +3002
My darkhorse to win The Masters is Rose who finished 2nd in 2015. He has already proven he can handle pressure, as he is a U.S. Open winner and he won Olympic gold. He finished second to Spieth in 2015.
Course: Augusta National Golf Club measures 7,435 yards and is a par 72. It is an amazing course that looks pristine every year. The course is known for its magnolia trees and azaleas.
