Dustin Johnson is favored to win the Memorial Tournament, as he is listed at odds of +595. Johnson has actually finished outside of the Top 10 in his last two events, with a tie for 12th at THE PLAYERS and a tie for 13th at the Byron Nelson. He is not expected to have an easy time this weekend, as a strong field is assembled for the Memorial Tournament, including Jon Rahm, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Adam Scott. It was a tough week for us with matchups last week, so we’ll look to bounce back with a strong weekend at the Memorial.

The Memorial Tournament Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. Muirfield Village is a relatively easy course, as it measures 7,392 yards and is a par 72. Scores are going to be good so hitting greens in regulation will be critical and putting will be a big key. Last year the field averaged 11.85 greens in regulation per round and a birdie or better mark of nearly 35%, which was the third-highest of any course on the PGA Tour schedule last year.
Unlike last week at Colonial, where first time winners are rare, the last three winners at Muirfield have been first time winners, with Hideki Matsuyama winning in 2014, David Lingmerth in 2015 and William McGirt last year.
The key stats for winning at Muirfield are Strokes Gained Approach, Greens in Regulation, Birdie or Better %, Par 4 Scoring and Strokes Gained Off the Tee.
D. Johnson -160 vs. J. Spieth
I am going with the top player in the world this week in his matchup against Spieth. Johnson finished third in this event last year and he is playing even better this year. He goes against Spieth who did play well last week but has been very inconsistent this season.
J. Rahm -115 vs. J. Spieth
I think Rahm should be a much bigger price in this matchup, as he is simply the better player right now. He will crush these short holes and set up excellent birdie chances. I am still not sold that Spieth has figured out his troubles, as last week was Colonial where he always does well.
S. Stricker -165 vs. K. Bradley
Stricker is still trying to qualify for the U.S. Open and he could contend this week on a course that suits his game. He goes against a player in Bradley who has one Top 10 finish this year.
T. Finau +100 vs. K. Kisner
I should have taken Kisner last week, as he is one of my main players but I almost always go against players coming off a win. Finau will be able to use his length to set up a lot of birdie chances and I will take him against Kisner in this matchup. Finau finished tied for 8th in this event two years ago and he tied for 11th last year.
Byeong Hun An +105 vs. K. Chappell
I will go with an addition matchup this week and take An at plus money. He makes a lot of birdies which is needed to win this event. An played well in this event last year with a tie for 11th. He goes against Chappell who has played poorly since winning the Valero Texas Open in April.
