World No. 1 Jason Day +700 is joined by No. 2 Jordan Spieth +800, No. 3 Rory McIlroy +800 and No. 4 Bubba Watson +3250 in one of the strongest betting fields of the year. In all, 21 of the top 30 in the Official World rankings are scheduled to play.
Day is playing a home game, his wife grew up an hour north of Columbus and he currently resides 15 minutes from Muirfield Village. Spieth was in a bit of a slump until he won last week at Colonial. McIlroy looks to build on his Irish Open win in his last start and Watson is a hit or miss this week. We could be set for a Day, Spieth and McIlroy showdown on Sunday - something we have yet to see, but one scenario that every golf fan is hoping for.
Defending champion David Lingmerth +11500 and red hot Russell Knox +4550 are among 11 players that are making the long trip from London after playing last week at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Other stars playing include Hideki Matsuyama +1800, Rickie Fowler +2350, Matt Kuchar +2200 and Patrick Reed +4500.
Muirfield Village Golf Club will host this year’s event and has done so since the inception of the tournament in 1976. The layout measures 7,392 yards and plays to a par 72. Muirfield Village was built by Jack Nicklaus in 1974 and has become not only a favorite PGA TOUR stop, but an occasional stage for bigger events. Jack’s Place is the only venue to host all three of U.S. pro golf’s team match-play showcases – Ryder Cup in 1987, Solheim Cup in 1998 and Presidents Cup in 2013. The U.S. Amateur paid a visit in 1992 as well.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Jason Day +700 vs. Jordan Spieth +800 vs. Rory McIlroy +800
The big three will likely be paired up against one another in the weekly golf matchups and all are playing well. Of the three, I am going with Rory McIlroy. He won in his last start at the Irish Open, comes in well rested and has had some success at The Memorial. In five starts in Columbus, McIlroy has one top five and two other top 10’s - that’s not great - but he’s never been playing this well this time of year. Bet ON McIlroy in the power golf matchups.
Hideki Matsuyama +1800 loves playing at Muirfield Village! In his last eight rounds at Jack’s course, he’s broken par each time and collected a win in 2014 and a fifth place showing last year. He also is in great form posting T7, T11 and T7 in his last three starts on the PGA Tour. The Japanese star is a golfing machine and should be trusted in every format this week.
