We will see Tiger Woods this week at the Quicken Loans National, but don’t get your hopes to high, he won’t be playing, he is the host. His game is gone and his return is uncertain but the host will be lurking at Congressional Country Club, the venue for this week’s PGA Tour event.
Generally, the betting field is soft one week after a major championship and this week is no different. Only two of the top twelve in the Official World Rankings are playing this week. World No. 5 Rickie Fowler +1500 is the highest ranked player in the field. He is joined by Patrick Reed +1785, Charley Hoffman +3050, Jim Furyk +2050, Justin Thomas +3050 and Bryson DeChambeau +3150. Jon Rahm +7100, the World No. 1 ranked amateur, is making his professional debut this week at Congressional.
Congressional Country Club is the host venue this week. The Blue course measures 7,569 yards and plays to a par 71. You old-timers may recall that Congressional was the site where Ken Venturi staggered through stifling heat to win the 1964 U.S. Open, the first of three Opens held there along with the 1976 PGA Championship. The club also hosted six Kemper Opens, before getting back on the PGA TOUR’s regular schedule when the Quicken Loans National joined in 2007.

ODD ANALYSIS
Jim Furyk +2050 appears to be fully recovered from his wrist injury that sidelined him for most of the year.He played solid golf last week at the U.S. Open finishing T2 and looked like the Jim Furyk we are accustomed to seeing, hitting fairways and greens, limiting his mistakes and making putts when he needed to. Congressional Country Club is a course that Furyk knows well and his style of game is a perfect fit for this layout. Furyk is anxious to get back in the winner’s circle and prove that he still is one of the best players in the world.
Justin Thomas +3050 is a hit or miss candidate on a weekly basis. He is a very streaky player, one week he is in contention and the next week he misses the cut. He played well at the U.S. Open last week and played well a year ago at Congressional which leads me to believe he is on a good steak and will contend this week in Maryland.
Poor Keegan Bradley +7050 is really struggling with his game. Since having to switch from anchoring his putter to a conventional style, he can’t putt it into the ocean right now. Making the cut is a struggle these days for the former PGA winner and until I see some improvement, I am FADING BRADLEY and you should to.
