Tiger Woods will return to competitive golf later this month in the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. Do you remember the last time Tiger played competitive golf? It was at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic back in February and it was ugly for Tiger, as withdrew after shooting an opening round 77. The last PGA Tour event he played was the Farmers Insurance Open in January and he missed the cut. The question for bettors is if they think Tiger has regained some of his previous form or if they think he is completely through. One of the props that I think has a lot of value is the back surgery prop. I just can’t see Tiger undergoing another back surgery. He is at the point where undergoing another surgery would be counterproductive and probably end his pro golfing career, so I think the No is a solid bet at -160.
Another of the props that I like is the one on withdrawal for the Hero World Challenge. The event is Tiger’s event, it has a small field and Tiger has prepped for months for this particular event. I can’t see him withdrawing from this tournament, as it would be a major embarrassment. I like the No on this prop at -303.
If you listen to Rickie Fowler, who said that Tiger is hitting the ball great, then Tiger should at least be ready to play golf at the Hero World Challenge. How well he plays is another story, but at least he should be competitive. Keep in mind we have been down this road before, as Tiger began his last comeback attempt at last year’s Hero World Challenge and he finished 15th in a field of 17 players.
