U.S. Open Props

2017-GOLF-US-Open-Props-PGA-Betting-Lines

Do you think this year’s U.S. Open will end with a playoff? Do you think the winning score will be under par? Those are just two of the props on the board for the U.S. Open, which begins on Thursday, June 15 at Erin Hills, just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If you are looking for value there are some props offering double-digit returns, including Will Anyone Break the U.S. Open 18-Hole Scoring Record of 63? Let’s look at all of the props and a few predictions.

U.S. Open Props

Will there be an Eagle on No. 18 during the Fourth Round?

Yes +110

No -140

No. 18 is a par 5, so the possibility of an eagle is real, as the hole measures 637 yards. Players like Dustin Johnson will be able to reach the green in two, so I think there is value on the Yes at plus money.

Number of Birdies on No. 18 during the Fourth Round

Over 15.5 ( -105 )

Under 15.5 ( -125 )

Most Strokes Recorded on Any Hole ( Not Including Playoff )

Over 9.5 ( -110 )

Under 9.5 ( -120 )

It seems that every year there is at least one player who has a complete meltdown on a single hole. Erin Hills has some very long rough that is going to produce some big scores on certain holes. I will take this one over the total of 9.5.

Lowest 18-Hole Score

Over 66 ( +140 )

Under 66 ( -170 )

Erin Hills is a long course but if the wind is not blowing, it is a course where a good score can be shot. I will go under 66 in this prop.

Highest 18-Hole Score

Over 85.5 ( -145 )

Under 85.5 ( +115 )

Lowest 18-Hole Score in Fourth Round

Over 67.5 ( -120 )

Under 67.5 ( -110 )

Will Anyone Break the U.S. Open 18-Hole Scoring Record of 63?

Yes +1500

No -10000

If the odds were higher I would consider taking the under, as I think a 62 is possible if the weather conditions are good. I just don’t know that we get enough value at +1500.

Will There Be a Hole-in-One?

Yes -140

No +110

Will Amateur Walker Lee Make the Cut?

Yes +550

No -1300

Will Amateur Stewart Hagestad Make the Cut

Yes +350

No -550

Will Steve Stricker Make the Cut?

Yes -160

No +130

How Many Amateurs Will Make the Cut?

Over 2.5 -110

Under 2.5 -120

Will the Winner Come From Behind to Win During the Fourth Round?

Yes -200

No +160

Will there be a Wire-to-Wire Winner?

Yes +700

No -1200

Will there be a Playoff?

Yes +300

No -400

If you look at history, we are overdue for a playoff in the U.S. Open. The longest streak of years without a playoff in the U.S. Open is eight. If we don’t get a playoff this year, it would be nine years without a playoff. I will take the Yes at +300.

What Type of Putter will the Winner be using on the Final Green?

Blade -220

Mallet +170

Age of 2017 U.S. Open Winner

Over 28.5 ( -130 )

Under 28.5 ( +100 )

Any Other Country -105

Yes +900

No -3000

Who Will the Winner Hug First? ( Excluding Caddie )

Wife/Girlfriend +155

Child +220

Parent +600

Wife holding child +300

No hug +900

Winner Headwear

Hat -1600

Visor +750

No Headwear +4500

Final Margin of Victory ( Not Including Playoff )

Tie ( Playoff ) +275

1 stroke +290

2 strokes +280

3 strokes +620

4 strokes +800

5 strokes +1000

6 strokes or More +900

Winning Score

Under Par -716

Even Par +756

+1 to +2 +777

+3 or Higher +830

The Winning Score was my favorite prop when it was first released, as I said in the U.S. Open preview that I thought Under Par was a virtual guarantee. When I wrote that preview, the number was -315 and I said it should be much higher and now it is -716. I still think the winning score will be under par but I can’t lay 7-1.
