Jordan Spieth is favored to win this week’s Valspar Championship in Florida, with Rory McIlory the second choice in the betting odds. Spieth has not played nearly as well this season as he did a year ago and McIlroy hasn’t won in a while, so there could be some value on other golfers this week. It was all or nothing last week with the golf matchups, as we swept our matchups on the European Tour but got swept with the PGA Tour matchups. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s Valspar Championship.

Valspar Championship Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. Last year’s winner, Adam Hadwin ranked highly in greens-in-regulation and in scrambling. Avoiding mistakes on the Copperhead course is critical and six of the top 10 finishers last year were in the top 10 in bogey avoidance. Wind is in the forecast for three of the four days, so the conditions may not be easy this week.
Luke List -115 vs. Louis Oosthuizen
I have gone against Louis the past two weeks with a win and a loss. I am coming right back again this week and going against him again. List has five top 20 finishes this season and he tied for 27th in this event a year ago.
Adam Hadwin -115 vs. Tiger Woods
These odds are all reputation, as Tiger has done nothing to show he is capable of contending for a win. Hadwin is the defending champion and he is playing well again this year with a tie for 6th at Riviera and a tie for 9th at Chapultepec. I will take Hadwin in this matchup.
Webb Simpson -135 vs. Cameron Smith
Webb disappointed us last week, but he has played well at Valspar with four top 17 finishes. He has four top 20 finishes this season and he ranks tie for 7th in par-5 scoring this season. I will lay the price and take Simpson in this matchup.
Matthew Fitzpatrick -105 vs. Kevin Na
You may not be that familiar with Fitzpatrick, as he plays mostly on the European Tour. He definitely has the game suited for a tough course like Copperhead, as he putts well and he is strong with short irons. I will take him in this matchup against Na.
