Dustin Johnson headlines the field for the Wells Fargo Championship which begins on Thursday in North Carolina. Johnson was last seen pulling out of the Masters with a back injury, but all indications are that he is completely healed and ready to go for this event. If true, he is the clear choice to win, as he comes into this event ranked No. 1 in the world and he has won his last three tournaments. We have been doing well with the matchups, as it was 3-1 last week for us at the Zurich Classic. Let’s look at this week’s matchups, odds and picks.

Wells Fargo Championship Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. This tournament will not be held at its normal locale, as Quail Hollow is hosting the PGA Championship later this year, so the Wells Fargo Championship will be played at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington.
Eagle Point Golf Club has been compared a little bit to Augusta National Golf Club, as it features some greens with runoff corners and false fronts. The course is a par 72 that measures 7,396 yards. There are a number of water hazards and trees that make this course challenging. The 4th hole is a par-5 that measures 640 yards, the second longest hole on the PGA Tour schedule. The 7th is a drivable par 4 that is 353 yards.
D. Johnson -170 vs. J. Rahm
If Johnson is healthy, then I think he will be in contention for the win on Sunday. Johnson has won his last three starts and he leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green, par-5 scoring and greens in regulation. There is no doubt that Rahm is a young star but Johnson is better right now and even at this price, I like D.J.
P. Casey -150 vs. K. Kisner
Casey has been very consistent this year with a tie for 16th or better in four of his last five starts. He is sixth in strokes gained around the green and he is 16th in strokes gained tee-to-green. He finished 6th at Augusta which should help him on this course. There is no doubt Kisner is a good player but I think he could have a letdown this week after nearly winning at the Zurich Classic. It doesn’t help that he had to go to a Monday playoff before losing. I will lay the price and take Casey.
H. Swafford -110 vs. M. Laird
Swafford missed the cut at the Masters but he had two straight top 10 finishes before the Masters. Swafford is ranked 77th in the world, while Laird is ranked 104th. Swafford has experience playing at Eagle Point and I think that experience will be a big edge in this matchup against Laird, so I will lay the small price.
