Defending champion Rory McIlroy +435 and FedExCup leader Adam Scott +1850 headline a world class field this week in Charlotte. Rickie Fowler +1550, Phil Mickelson +2500, Justin Rose +2500 and Patrick Reed +2600 all are scheduled to compete. In all, 8 of the top 12 in the current world rankings are scheduled to tee it up this week.
McIlroy looks to become the first 3-time champion of the event. Veteran Jim Furyk +12050 makes his first start of the year after having wrist surgery in February and Bryson DeChambeau +5000 gets a sponsor’s exemption in his quest to keep his playing privileges.
Quail Hollow Club, 7,575 yards, par 72. The 1961 George Cobb design, with upgrades from Arnold Palmer and Tom Fazio, continues to grow in status since its return to the PGA TOUR schedule in 2003. Not only has Quail Hollow become a favorite among players, but the course will become a major championship venue as host of next year’s PGA Championship. The Presidents Cup also will come to the site in 2021. Quail Hollow was the original site of the Kemper Open (1969-79) and later the World Seniors Invitational (1980-89) before Fazio was brought in to redo greens and add yardage. Quail Hollow’s final three holes, dubbed the “Green Mile,” are considered perhaps the toughest closing stretch on tour.
Wells Fargo Championship Facts;
1. Five of the previous six defending champions have not been around on Sunday at Quail Hollow. Derek Ernst is the lone exception, tying for 30th in 2014; Fowler was a Saturday MDF victim a year earlier. The course is a beast!
2. 2011 champion Lucas Glover remains the only man to post all four rounds in the 60’s at Wells Fargo. McIlroy came close last year, opening with a 70.
3. Geoff Ogilvy is a perfect 11 for 11 in made cuts.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Phil Mickelson +2500 loves playing at Quail Hollow Club. He is a perfect 12 for 12 in cuts made with 8 top 10’s and a stroke average of 70.19. I know his current form may scare you off but don’t let it, Lefty can turn things around in a New York minute and will be primed to get his game back on track.
Byeong-Hun An +4050 was the Rookie of the Year on the European Tour a year ago and is coming off a T2 last week in New Orleans. He won the U.S. Amateur in 2012 so he is no stranger to playing on this side of the pond. An often goes under the radar, but the dude can flat out play and will carry last week’s momentum over to this week and churn out another strong finish, if not a win.
The player that offers gamers the best value on the board is Emiliano Grillo +13050. The Argentinian has a win under his belt and is proving to us all that he is a world class player.
