The top 64 players in the world are on hand this week for the World Golf Championship - Dell Match Play in Austin, Texas. It’s a rare chance to see the players playing match play, head-to-head, with an interesting format.
The 64-man field will be divided into 16 four-man groups. These groups will play three days of round robin with each group’s winner advancing to the knockout rounds.
The No. 1 seeds are Jordan Spieth +1200, Jason Day +1100, Rory McIlroy +1000 and Bubba Watson +1700, but really in match play anyone and anything can happen so there's no real advantage to the seedings as there is in the basketball seeds.
The tournament has a new venue this year when Austin Country Club hosts the event. The layout measures 7,073 yards and plays to a par 71. Founded in 1899, Austin CC is believed to be the oldest golf club in Texas, though it has relocated twice since the end of World War II. The track overlooks Lake Austin and has two very different nine’s. The front nine is on higher ground and typical of the surrounding Texas hill country, while the “lowlands” nine runs alongside Lake Austin and should provide a spectacular backdrop for the finishing holes. It will be interesting to see how the players like the Pete Dye design.

ODDS ANALYSIS
Group 1 - Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Victor Dubuisson and Jamie Donaldson
Spieth is the overwhelming favorite. Donaldson and Dubuisson have yet to so any kind of form this year, so this group will come down to a showdown between close friend, Spieth and Thomas.
Group 2 - Jason Day, Paul Casey, Thongchai Jaidee and Graeme McDowell
It’s going to be tough for Day to play well this week after winning last week. McDowell loves the match play format and will surprise in this group, but Casey can not be over-looked.
Group 3 - Rory McIlroy, Kevin Na, Smiley Kaufman and Thorbjorn Olesen
McIlroy is the heavy favorite but look out for Kaufman - he hits it a mile and is not sfraid of the big stage.
Group 4 - Bubba Watson, J.B. Holmes, Emiliano Grillo and Patton Kizzire
This group will come down between two of the longest hitters in the game, Holmes and Watson, but then again, anything can happen in match play.
Group 9 - Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Daniel Berger
I love Mickelson in this group! His game is back to an elite level and all of the other players are struggling to find their form.
The WINNER
Adam Scott defeats Jordan Spieth
