World No.1 Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler are the betting favorites at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open

2015-Irish-Open-Betting-Odds

American Rickie Fowler ( +1275 ) and Rory McIlroy ( +385 ) are rivals but also good friends and the reason Fowler made the long journey to Northern Ireland this week to support his buddy and the Rory Foundation. Both players are red hot and boy it would be nice for a Sunday showdown with both in top form matching each other stroke for stroke coming down the stretch.

Royal County Down Golf Club hosts the Irish Open for the third time and the venue ranks as the best course outside the United States. This is also the place where Fowler and McIlroy first met and played against each other at the 2007 Walker Cup.

McIlroy did a great job recruiting players for his event and has assembled a world class field at a tournament that is set to host 80,000 fans over the four day tournament. Sergio Garcia ( +1650 ), Martin Kaymer ( +2650 ), Lee Westwood ( +3450 ), Shane Lowry ( +1875 ) all are scheduled to play this week.

This week’s BMW PGA Championship golf odds and golf matchups are up and ready to play at BookMaker Sportsbook. BookMaker was the first sportsbook to have the live odds and golf matchups available to wager on.

Shane Lowry ( +3050 ) heads home to where he grew up and has played the Royal County Golf Club probably more than anyone else in the field. Lowry’s local knowledge will come in handy on a track that changes on a daily basis. Lowry won this event in 2009 ( as an amateur ) and although he hasn’t yet duplicated the performance as a professional, he is real close. His game is in prime shape for a breakthrough win. After last week’s T6 at the BMW PGA, Lowry said his short game was “on fire”, so another strong performance beckons for the Irishman.

Thongchai Jaidee ( +5250 ) is coming off an impressive finish ( T2 ) at last week’s BMW PGA Championship and looks to take it one better by winning this week. If anyone has the patience and type of game it takes to succeed at Royal County Down Golf Club, Jaidee is the one. His low key demeanor will come in handy this week on a track that will wilt most player’s patience and attitude. Bet ON Jaidee in the weekly golf betting matchups.

Victor Dubuisson ( +6050 ) continues to struggle with his game. The Frenchman looked set to emerge from his current funk after opening 71-69 to sit T11 at halfway in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth but he regressed on the weekend and ended T63. His poor attitude and unhappy course demeanor give him no chance to play well. In stroke-play events, he now has just one finish ( T17 in Houston ) better than T60 since January. Don’t look for any help in his Irish Open record. He played the event in 2010, 2011 and 2013 and didn’t make the weekend in any of them. Fade the Frenchman!

Luke Donald ( +5050 ) is another player in bad form who I fade every chance I get. Donald is making his first Irish Open appearance since 2004 and won’t have much luck this week playing the Royal County Down Golf Club where accuracy is the key, a key that is non-existent in Donald’s game these days. Adding to Donald’s demise is his poor track record on links style courses. Fade Cool hand Luke.
