Odds Analysis

Jason Day and Rickie Fowler +600

Day is ranked No. 3 in the world, while Fowler is ranked No. 9, so this is a powerful team. Day has played well in this event in recent years, finishing in the top five the last two years. He hasn’t played that well this year with his focus on his mom but he could get it going at any time. Fowler has had six straight top 20 finishes but his play at TPC Louisiana hasn’t been that great in the past.

Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson +600

The duo of Rose and Stenson should really be listed as the favorite this week, as Rose is ranked eighth in the world, while Stenson is ranked No. 6. These two really like playing together as was evidenced in the 2014 Ryder Cup when they went unbeaten. The concern with this duo is the play of Stenson who has missed his last three cuts. There are no worries about Rose who lost in a playoff at the Masters to Sergio Garcia. Rose won this event at TPC Louisiana in 2015.

Jordan Spieth and Ryan Palmer +1000

The duo of Spieth and Palmer is one to watch this week, as Spieth is ranked No. 3 in the world, while Palmer has finished in the top 11 in his last two events. Palmer has done well in this event, finishing in a tie for fourth in 2012.

Thomas Pieters and Daniel Berger +1400

These two are quietly ranked in the top 40 in the world with Berger ranked No. 37, while Pieters is ranked No. 27. This duo is not going under the radar with oddsmakers, as they are the fourth betting choice.

Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen +1600

These two have always had great chemistry together so it would not be a surprise to see them contend for the win this week. Grace is ranked No. 22 in the world, while Oosthuizen is ranked No. 31. This duo was great at the 2015 Presidents Cup and each is playing well.

Brooks Koepka and Chase Koepka +6200

An interesting longshot this week is the duo of Brooks and Chase Koepka. Brooks is the bigger name but Chase is younger and on his way up. I think these two can contend this week and we get them at big odds.

Course: The TPC Louisiana is a par 72 that measures 7,425 yards. It is a Pete Dye course with a lot of water and a lot of bunkers. Not only are there the traditional bunkers but there are also a number of large waste bunkers on the course. The course has traditionally played pretty easy, ranking in the top third of PGA Tour courses for scoring.

TV Coverage: CBS and Golf Channel

Notes: Almost half of the world’s top 25 players are in the field but only two teams feature both players ranked in the top 25, as Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson are playing together, while Jason Day and Rickie Fowler are together as a team. Other teams of note are Jordan Spieth and Ryan Palmer, Bubba Watson and J.B. Holmes and Branden Grace and Louis Ooosthuizen. The last time team competition took play on the PGA Tour was at the 1981 Walt Disney World Team Championship.
