Thursday is for football and families, but Friday is for the horses. Seven are scheduled to take the one turn around Aqueduct Racetrack on Friday at the Go For Wand Handicap, one of the last major races of the year for fillies and mare sprinters.

ODDS ANALYSIS
1: Willet
2: America
3: Spelling Again
4: Taris
5: Playful Love
6: Kiss to Remember
7: Mei Ling
There are no odds posted on this race yet, but it's clear that the class of the Go For Wand Handicap is Taris. She takes a big step down from racing last month at the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, but it's a worthwhile slip down to the Grade 3 level where she has found all sorts of success.
Beyond Taris, there aren't a lot of truly elite fillies and mares here. Kiss to Remember and Spelling Again figure to be the next two favorites, while Willet is at least get a little bit of consideration knowing that he has the best speed at this distance in her career at 97.
FAVORITE TO FOLLOW
Taris has started to build a very good rapport with his jockey, Gary Stevens. Stevens has had the mount on her for the last three races, and she's had three good runs. Yes, the most recent of the three was a third place finish at the Breeders' Cup, but she should have a much better time here at Aqueduct.
Taris has a knack for coming out of the blocks in a hurry, and if she ends up starting well on Friday, she's going to be really tough to beat, knowing that she's had three race victories in her career from wire to wire.
UNDERDOG TO WATCH
Spelling Again might ultimately end up being a nice choice in this race. She has run three races in her last four with at least a 95 Beyer Speed Rating, and she has managed to do well at the full one mile as she's going to have to run on Friday.
The big problem Spelling Again is going to have is running the same style as Taris. For our money, she has never run against any filly or mare anywhere near this good, as demonstrated by the fact that she has just over $300,000 in career earnings. She did win the Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes just a few weeks ago at Churchill Downs though, and if that acts as a springboard, she has a chance to pull off the modest upset here at the Go For Wand Handicap.
ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
The trailers in this race are going to have some real issues here. America and Playful Love are amongst the other fillies who are going to try to start from off the pace and make a nice surge in the final couple furlongs, but it isn't going to happen.
Taris is just too good of a filly to get beaten in this race, and there's a reason that she's going to be an odds on favorite. The payoff isn't going to be great at the Go For Wand Handicap, but winning a small pittance is a lot better than losing on the other six in this field.
