A huge day at Belmont Park on Saturday will of course be finished off by the Belmont Stakes.
Prior to that though, bettors could get a good idea of how the dirt is going to run with the six-furlong Truth North Stakes.

Normally speaking, these short races have an overwhelming favorite, but here on Belmont Stakes Day, that just isn't the case in the True North Stakes. Of course, when you don't have a huge favorite, you don't have many huge longshots either. The prices on Captain Serious and Tenango at 15 to 1 and 20 to 1 respectively seem a little lofty considering the fact that there are just eight colts going to post in this race on Saturday.
FAVORITE TO FOLLOW
For our money, Clearly Now should be the favorite in this race instead of Rock Fall.
Clearly Now has a ton of experience in these big time races, and the moment isn't going to be too big for him. He is coming off of a race at the Diablo Stakes in which he posted a 100 Beyer Speed Rating. Granted, he was beaten on this day by Stallwalkin' Dude, who is in this race as well, but it isn't often that you see this colt caught from behind.
Remember that in July, Clearly Now won the Belmont Sprint by 6 1/4 lengths, pulling away from this field in the final furlong in what appeared like it was going to be a really close race. That day, he ran a 109 Beyer Speed Rating over seven furlongs, and that's as good of a race as anyone in this field has ever had.
UNDERDOG TO WATCH
Todd Pletcher has a big day in front of him, and Rock Fall is a colt who could put together a big victory. However, it is his other horse in this field, Eastwood who we are keying in on in this one.
Eastwood is a really lightly run colt for five years old, and has only run in one graded stakes race in his career. However, he’s had some really blazing training sessions of late, the last of which was 48 and 1 over four furlongs. His last race, albeit just an optional claiming race, was his best, as he turned 6.5 furlongs in 1:16 flat and won by 2 3/4 lengths.
He could be a real factor on this day as well.
ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
The early speed in this race is going to come from the underdogs, as well as Stallwalkin' Dude. It would be irresponsible to just write off the No. 2 colt in this race, but Stallwalkin' Dude could really be pushed here by Captain Serious and Tenango out of the blocks harder than he wants to be pushed.
The heavy speed in this race is concerning for sure, but in the end, we still think that the trailers we have spoken about are going to be the ones dueling it out at the end. The moment might be just too big for Rock Fall, who has never seen a race like this one in his career.
Go with Clearly Now to win this race, but we wouldn't give up on Eastwood either.
