UFC FIGHT NIGHT 79, November 28
Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic -190 vs. Anthony Hamilton +150
41-year old Mirko Cro Cop continues his second stint in the octagon in South Korea in a matchup against slugger Anthony Hamilton. The UFC fully recognizes that Cro Cop is firmly in the “fun fights” stage of his career, making his matches more about entertainment and storylines than real title implications.
Against Hamilton, Cro Cop will have plenty of opportunities to land his revered left head kick - which would undoubtedly thrill Asian fans who are familiar with the Croatian from his Pride days. Cro Cop will only get more expensive as we get closer to the November fight date, so get your bets in now if you were planning to bet on him.
UFC ON FOX 17, December 19
Alistair Overeem +270 vs. Junior dos Santos -350
This is a heavyweight matchup that’s been brewing for years, with both Overeem and dos Santos taking shots at each other on social media to fuel the flames. And because they’re two of the most recognizable fighters in the division, we’ve got early odds for you to consider even though the bout doesn’t take place until December.
What makes this matchup so compelling, besides the fact that these two big men genuinely don’t like each other, is that it pits the arguably the best heavyweight kickboxer against the best boxer in the division. Considering the size of each man the power they possess, this is going to be a violent fight that likely ends with knockout.
Even better, this premier heavyweight bout airs free on FOX.
UFC ON FOX 17, December 19
Nate Diaz +300 vs. Michael Johnson -400
Despite Dana White’s claims that Nate Diaz is not the “needle-mover” his brother is, there is plenty of interest in the lightweight’s return to the octagon after sitting out for more than a year to protest his contract. Any time a Diaz brother fights, we tune in for the thug life antics before, during and after the fight.
So far, we’ve seen the Stockton native throw up dual middle fingers at the camera during a fight, engage in post-fight brawls, and literally bitch-slap opponents off his back. Will he get inside Michael Johnson’s head? Who knows, but it will be fun as hell to watch him try on a free FOX card.
