The finalized UFC 193 card - and what you need to know

UFC-193-finalized.ac

The UFC is headed to Australia with it’s biggest superstar - Ronda Rousey - leading a card that’s expected to have the biggest live crowd in the promotion’s history. 70,000 fans will pack the Ethiad Stadium in Melbourne to watch the first ever card headlined by two women’s champions.

Check out the entire card and some of the storylines - plus we’ve got a few early odds for you.

MAIN EVENT: Ronda Rousey -1500 vs. Holly Holm +900

CO-FEATURE: Joanna Jedrzejczyk -1900 vs. Valerie Letourneau +1200

HEAVYWEIGHTS: Mark Hunt -215 vs. Antonio Silva +180

MIDDLEWEIGHTS: Uriah Hall vs. Robert Whittaker

HEAVYWEIGHTS: Jared Rosholt vs. Stefan Struve

Any fight with Rousey is worth watching, just to see if her opponent can muster up any sort of offense. Holly Holm has a background as a former world champion boxer, which brings up the question of how good her ground game is. Against an elite judo fighter and armbar specialist like Rousey, that

As good as Rousey is, I’m more excited about watching women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. “Electric” doesn’t even begin to describe her world-class Muay Thai, which is as violent as it is beautiful. I think she’ll win a ton of fans in a destruction of Valerie Letourneau.

Speaking of destruction, want to watch two heavyweights beat the crap out of each other? Look no further than Mark Hunt’s matchup with Antonio Silva. The first time these two met, they painted the octagon with their blood in the type of sloppy, back-and-forth slugfest that was impossible not to love. The bout ended with a split draw, and now we’ll get to see a conclusive result.

Uriah Hall has always been one of the most enigmatic middleweight talents around, but he just notched what will probably be the knockout of the year against a contender in Gegard Mousasi. It would be just like Hall to follow up a career-defining win by losing to an unknown like Robert Whitaker, but let’s hope that he’s turned the corner.

Jared Rosholt and Stefan Struve will lock horns in a battle to determine who the better gatekeeper is. Neither man will ever become a champion, but they’ve established themselves as top-15 guy. If anything, it’s always fun to watch the seven-foot Struve and wonder how he’s never figured out how to utilize his height.

FOX SPORTS 1 PRELIMS - 8 p.m. ET

Lightweights: Akbarh Arreola vs. Jake Matthews

Welterweights: Kyle Noke vs. Peter Sobotta

Light heavyweights: Anthony Perosh vs. Gian Villante

Flyweights - Richie Vaculik vs. Danny Martinez

There’s really not that much to see here, as the UFC is pitting local Australian fighters against a plethora of international guys. Jake Matthews is a 9-1 prospect, and he’ll fight a 33-fight veteran in Akbarh Arreola. If you want to see a knockout, then Anthony Perosh and Gian Villante are two 205ers that love to slug.

UFC FIGHT PASS PRELIMS - 6:15 p.m. ET

Lightweights - Brendan O’Reilly vs. James Moontasri

Middleweights - Daniel Kelly vs. Steve Montgomery

Welterweights - Richard Walsh vs. Steven Kennedy

Flyweights - Ben Nguyen vs. Ryan Benoit

The guy that I want to see is Ben Nguyen, who became a viral video sensation after knocking out a cocky, heavily tattooed fighter. I’m sure one of your friends have posted it in on Facebook somewhere. Let’s see if he can build on that.
