Nothing gets the blood of an MMA fan boiling more than a good old fashioned barnburner. Peering ahead into the UFC schedule, there’s a few that are impossible to not get hyped for. Even better, you can bet on some of them now. Let’s take a look at some of these fights you can bet on now, and let the action begin!
UFC 194: Conor McGregor -175 vs. Jose Aldo +145
DECEMBER 12, BELIEVE THE HYPE
Yes, I am going to keep writing about this fight as much as my editor allows me. First, the buzz that McGregor is generating is ridiculous. Second, it’s a title unification bout. More importantly, there’s no way that this fight can’t be awesome. While Aldo has taken some heat for lacking a killer instinct and cruising in his recent bouts, there’s no way that the relentless Irishman allows that.
When the Brazilian champion is being aggressive, he is an explosive, athletic terror with picture-perfect Muay Thai. The brash Irishman is going to come forward at all cost and force him to react.
UFC 193: Mark Hunt -215 vs. Antonio Silva +180
NOVEMBER 14, THERE WILL BE BLOOD
The first time these two big men met, we were treated to brutal, glorious battle that ended in what could be argued as the most satisfying draw ever. Both men teed off on each other from the start, landing bombs, bombs and more bombs while leaving the mat looking like a scene from an Eli Roth movie. Now, they’re going at it again.
Hunt is a former K-1 kickboxer with one-punch knockout power. Silva is a 285-pound giant with fists the size of hams. Both men love to stand and trade. While it might be too much to expect as great a fight as the original, if the sequel is anywhere close it’ll be a bloodbath.
UFC 194: Robbie Lawler -145 vs. Carlos Condit +115
JANUARY 2, IT’S BRAWL GOOD BRO
I don’t know how you can have a last name like Lawler and choose “Ruthless” as your nickname. I get that it’s alliterative with Robbie, but wouldn’t rhyming Lawler with “Brawler” or “Mauler” be so much better? Especially since that is exactly what happens every time he fights - it turns into a brawl or somebody gets mauled.
Lawler’s most recent bout with Rory MacDonald is probably my favorite fight of all time - the faces of both men looked like they were ground up into beef. But Carlos Condit is perhaps the most violent fighter in the division, a true-four limbed terror who will throw anything at any time. What do you get when you pair two of the most grittiest, savage fighters at 170 in a championship fight? Epic doesn’t even begin to describe it.
